YoN 03-17-2004, 04:46 PM Originally posted by rhsunderground there are no problems with it on macs (ironically enough) It seems that you don't know QuickTime was made by Apple... The same company that created Mac, therefore it's normal that macs come with quicktime preinstalled. That's why there's no problem with macs. [Perhaps I missunderstood your what you were saying] ;) Well, is the QT movie embedded on the HTML or is it a link where they download it? I recomend you to make it as the first option; to embed the QT on the HTML see this (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60883) and this (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/authoring/embed.html) might help as well. Either way you have to advise users to download QuickTime (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone/) HTH rhsunderground 03-18-2004, 10:45 AM Originally posted by rhsunderground there are no problems with it on macs (ironically enough), yet on real computers... i was simply mocking the graphically equipped calculators. some how it started working. je no se par. thanks anyway though. Ohh well, those real computers... Conor 03-18-2004, 05:32 PM gah it pisses me offf so much when people make fun of macs. I have a mac and its alot more then a graphically equipped calculator. James L. 03-18-2004, 10:22 PM Refresh, Don't sweat it... anyone who slams Macs hasn't spent any significant amount of time on them. The fact that Apple pioneered the home computer (invented it), the fact that Apple pioneered the GUI and M$ had to steal it, the fact that Apple pioneered the use of the mouse, invented Firewire, invented Quicktime, has an Unix based OS that puts XP to shame, that it owns the creative world, audio world, video editing world, etc doesn't occur to some people. These people are also in denial that Apple once agained pioneered an industry with the creation of the iTunes music store ($50 million songs sold so far) and that it has NO competition in the MP3 player market will also be overlooked by these people. The fact that Logic has won at the Academy awards what, 7 years in a row, doesn't occur to these people. The fact that whenever they turn on the tv or go see a movie there is a HUGE statistical probability that it was edited in Final Cut Pro on a G5 mac doesn't occur to these people. On the chip market, the fact that IBM has a processor roadmap that is going to put Intel to shame in the next few years doesn't occur to these people. The fact that the new PPC chip IBM and Apple developed has been contracted by Sony and M$ to use in their consoles doesn't occur to these people. Oh, finally, the third most powerful supercomputer in the world was made with Macs, at about 1/20th the cost of the first two which were made with PCs.... you do the math. These people have, what we call, issues. Not for you and I to worry about. Why not? Well, because: A) These ignorant people do not represent the majority of computer users, who realize that an intelligent person buys the machine best suited for their needs, whether that machine is a Dell or a Mac. B) While these ignorant people deal with their viruses, crashes, conflicts, cheap cases, ugly machines, crappy software Mac users will continue to be productive on their machines, and to be told by people around them that their machines are damn sexy! Now, unbiased PC users should feel no insult from these comments, as unbiased PC users don't slam Macs with silly, childish comments. In short, I leave you with two quotes: "Never ask a person if he uses a Macintosh. If he does, he will tell you. If he doesn't... why embarrass him?" - Tom Clancy "The only time Microsoft will make a product that doesn't suck is if they begin to make vacuums" - author unknown. NOTE: Microsoft fans relax... they are jokes! Oh, and a final thought to the original poster: THe macs work, the PCs don't... which is the REAL computer?! rhsunderground 03-19-2004, 10:47 AM Originally posted by James L. "The only time Microsoft will make a product that doesn't suck is if they begin to make vacuums" - author unknown. ROFL!:p Conor 03-19-2004, 03:32 PM great post james. Encore Encore :p James L. 03-19-2004, 03:58 PM Looking back at my post it was probably a bit harsh. The truth of the matter is that there are dozens and dozens of computer manufactuers, and an intelligent person buys the computer that is best suited for them. In MANY circumstances, the Macintosh is the superior computer for a persons task. I am like you refresh, I hate idiots who Mac bash for the sake of Mac bashing, without any concept of what true computing is. Usually, when you call these people on it, they say "I have used a Mac, and I don't like it". I would argue that 99% of these people either know VERY little of computing, or have spent VERY little amount of time on a Mac. Either way, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and these people tend to sound stupid when they speak. Without Apple the computing industry would not be anywhere near where it is today. That is not to slight the efforts of AMD, Dell, etc. It is simply to state fact. I have 2 Macs and 1 PC. All are great computers, all have things they excel at, and I use all on a regular basis. ...but, like rhsunderground, I still love that M$ Vacuum joke! These people are also in denial that Apple once agained pioneered an industry with the creation of the iTunes music store ($50 million songs sold so far) and that it has [i]NO competition[i/i] in the MP3 player market This is like the only thing i disagree with, there is lots of competition in the mp3 player market. Itunes vs winamp vs wmp9 vs realplayer etc etc... The list goes on and on. Very competitive. James L. 03-19-2004, 06:37 PM Hey Cheat, I should have broken that down in two separate sentences better. I was referring to the music store having no real competition. There are now many music download services, but none that have come close to the sales of the iTunes music store. This is why HP now has their own branded iPod, and why all HP computers will be shipping with iTunes on the desktop. Having said that, while there are many GREAT MP3 players on the market, I think the iPod has 31% marketshare against all other players currently. I am sure this will change as more people get into the market, but is still an impressive number. Cheers! The Cheat 03-19-2004, 09:22 PM Ah, ok. got ya :) webdeveloper.com
