Robots.txt question

I am not a web developer or designer, so be gentle with me. ;)

One of my clients' has a referral page that is showing up in the search engines, and he wants it to be invisible. I assume that his designer needs to put in a robots.txt file on that page, but do not know how it should look, or where I can send him (has to be a non-technical explanation).
