Thanks, Neil Daniel T 03-22-2004, 01:22 PM Well, since the point of a screensaver is for it to go away after the mouse is moved or a button is pressed, it would be impossible to make an interactive screensaver. What you should do is just take a screenshot of the page when it is open and make it into a screensaver. This can be done with a program like Screensaver XP 3.0 (http://download.com.com/3000-2409-10189142.html). -Dan neil9999 03-22-2004, 01:27 PM Thanks for your reply. My webpage has animation, so that wouldn't work. I have seen screensavers before which are different from your description. After a period of inactivity, it opens, and you can play games on the screensaver and stuff. Basically, after 5 minutes of inactivity, the webpage should open. The user specifies it through Control Panel, Display. Thanks, Neil PS - Nice site:D Daniel T 03-22-2004, 04:46 PM Originally posted by neil9999 Basically, after 5 minutes of inactivity, the webpage should open. One of the primary functions of a screensaver is to shut down when the user starts to use the computer again. Where have you seen a screensaver like you described? bizability 03-23-2004, 05:09 PM play games on a screen saver? Are sure it was the screen saver...and not what it linked to somehow? some one tell us the truth on this. It's a weird idea. Sam 03-23-2004, 05:23 PM the fact that its a screen saver makes games seem difficult, since most games require mouse usage of some sort... Jick 03-23-2004, 05:41 PM I have actually had experiance with an intel product that would allow you to play various games as your screen saver. It was a camera software so you could play basketball on it and stuff. It is possible! ;) neil9999 03-24-2004, 11:58 AM I can't remember where I saw it. Basically, I just want my webpage to open instead of a screensaver. There is interactivity on it, but to exit there is a close button. If it's not defined as a screensaver it doesn't matter. Thanks, Neil Are you just talking about having your webpage on the screen in fullscreen mode? -Dan **EDIT** If this is what you need, you can do so by opening your webpage in Firefox, remove any toolbars, and hit F11. If you do not want the user to be able to get out of fullscreen mode, you will have to do so by disabling the F11 key. I think you can do this in the control panel, but I'm not sure. -Dan neil9999 03-24-2004, 03:40 PM I'm using IE, and it opens in Fullscreen automatically. It's only for use on my computer. When I do nothing on the computer for 5 minutes, the webpage should open, even if IE isn't already open. Thanks, Neil Daniel T 03-24-2004, 04:41 PM Hmmm... I'm not sure this is possible:( Besides, the point of a screensaver is to keep the pixels changing colors and going on and off rapidly to prevent the image from burning into the monitor. Unless your site has a helluva lot of animation, it's kind of defeating the purpose to use it instead of a screensaver. -Dan Juuitchan 03-24-2004, 09:06 PM It is possible to set a Web page as a desktop background in some versions of Windows. I don't remember whether it has to be on your computer or if it can be remote. Can one of THOSE pages launch a pop-up with your Web page? I don't know if it is possible for a Web page set as a desktop background to do this, though. Daniel T 03-24-2004, 09:43 PM You can set a webpage as a background on Win XP for sure. It can be local or remote. But one downside to this is that everytime you click a link, it opens up in a pop-up window:( -Dan webdeveloper.com
