I want to block the annoying Internet Explorer popups which appear during surfing.

Is there any way to do this, without writing the IE plugin.

I have written a DLL which gets all the data going to the IE. My idea is to comment the "window.open" part.

1. Will this help to stop all the popups?
2. Will this have any sort of side effects?

Just disable active scripting and you'll also be free from annoying mouse traills and web authors resizing your screen. And you'll speed up your browsing.

or a better choice will be(if you like to see mouse trails and stuff) switch to Mozilla based browsers(Netscape6+) and block the darn popups while you can still njoy rest of the JavaScript funtionalities.
