In newsletter 200, the last question and answer mentions that notepad saves as .txt.
Rather than using wordpad, which will apply formatting sometimes, just when you go to save with notepad, just change the file type dropdown box to "any" then type in "yourfilename.HTML".... lowercase .html is fine also
Using wordpad, formatting will be applied if you accidentally save as .doc....and in the newest version for XP, if you don't have it fully installed as i predict most people won't, you can only save as .rtf or .txt
and finally....if it is saved as .txt in anything:
JUST CLICK ON IT IN WINDOES EXPLORER, WAIT A SEC OR TWO THEN CLICK AGAIN...THEN DELETE THE .TXT AND REPLACE WITH .HTML...its that easy!
well...it isn't that easy if you have windows set not to show file extensions...then you have to make it do that in folder settings (but be careful you can mess up stuff in folder settings) in control panel
feel free to contribute feedback and additions to what i have said--i think its a valuable peice of information to anyone beginning html work
