fly was the first thing I tried, and i like it too :) it does a lot of things. must have taken a while to program :D

I commanded it to eat a McDonald's hamburger: it seemed to vomit or spit chunks of it at me.

I told it to fly to the moon, turn out all the lights (they came back on--why?), pray for world peace, be nice to a neighbor (nothing much happened), turn into an egg (it sorta did), and rearrange the furniture (it just jumped up and down on a sofa).

I have been trying to work out the method they employed when developing this. What do you guys think the trick is?

It seems almost too good to be a pre-programmed flash application.

EDIT: I found the best one!! Type in "Heavy metal rules!"

EDIT NO. 2: They have a database of keywords which is searched on each request. Thats the trick. If you type "couch", he will jump on the couch. etc, etc.

yes i was also wondering how the created it but i worked out a theory similar to yours buntine with the catching keywords then pulling up the clip associated.

they must havequite a few pre-filmed clips. well done Burger King.

the first time i saw it. iit was quite scary as it felt like a 1 to 1 chat with a slave et cetera.

anyway, good laughs all aorund i reckon.

i'm just a lowly usability analyst and no programmer and yet I figured out how they did this pretty quickly...

...I guessed that they had a cache or pool of pre-set responses to keywords, much like a Search Engine.

I also think they have a lot of bizarre behaviors to match unusual requests. They guessed what children, smart aleck teens, intellectual college students, jaded yuppies, seasoned seniors, etc. might ask it to do.

As a marketing person, I would have loved to have been in on the planning, focus groups, concept staging, etc. of this. The poor guy who had to wear the chicken suit.

How many different routines do you think there are?

I told it to "vote for the President" and it did a long series of exercises.

I told it to "disobey this command" and it just stood there.

I told it to "remove chicken suit" and it tried but couldn't and got real close to camera.

I told it to "sit on chair and get sick" and it sat on sofa then went behind sofa a puked a few times.

I told it to "destroy the room you are in" and it ran around pseudo-violently.

I told it to "do anything you want" and it did nothing.

I told it to "find Osama bin Laden" and the unpatriotic jerk just stood there.

"run" makes him get into position and run at the camara!

"watch tv" makes him sit on the chair and watch tv!

"fart" makes him stand by the tv and do what looks like farting!

EDIT: "hit head" makes him go behind the couch and wack his head aginst the wall a few times.

EDIT: "love" makes him get down on his knee in front of the camera and does what looks like perposing to you.
