Crazy question about id3 tags

Does anyone know how to strip the id3 information out of mp3 files? Is this possible? My goal is to take a cd, rip it to my machine, and then somehow get all of the track info into a spreadsheet.

Is this even possible?

have you ever opened one up in notepad? the id3 info is all right at the beginning in plain text. I think you could just parse it with a regex.
