I was searching for something when I found this link: www.premiersoccerstats.com/ PlayerHome.cfm?PlayerID=MENDEZA

Now, the thing is that I'm using Mozilla, so when I clicked on the link, I was redirected to a page which said:

Sorry but this site currently only works with Internet Explorer

I mean, how can someone be so stupid?? I don't know how many people are using a different browser than IE, but with their method they must be denying millions of people from viewing their pages!

Well unfortunately some wannabe webdevelopers don't have the skills to be able to code webpages for more then 1 browser.

You could always mail them and politely ask that your browser should be supported. If enough people do it they might fix the site.

There was a topic about this on the Opera forums, and someone said that they always e-mail the author, and most of them didn't realise their sites looked out browsers, as they were using a WYSIWYG editor that automatically added the code to stop anything other than IE entering.

Big difference here:
Mozilla (and other Gecko based browsers) are CSS2 and DOM2 compliant.
Opera, while showing good CSS2 support, fails (6.02 does so miserably) when it comes to DOM2.

a good link for browser statistics is:

http://www.echoecho.com

but, sure, it's not a very good solution to programming only for IE!

I'm guessing the guy/gal just couldn't be bothered to rewrite code for some people who dont have the skills to download IE
They're missing out. It's actually a pretty good site

This thread is more than 3.5 years old now.

That site no longer requires IE.

Next time please don't drag ancient, dead threads back to life.

LOL - Kravitz submitted while I was still typing.

Ummm....you're responding to a thread that is over 3-1/2 years old. I doubt that the web site in question is now anything at all like it was when this thread was started.
