Hi, I have a website which when I upload, has a line of code inserted into it by the hosting site.
Its really annoying as it displays text in the status bar.

The code inserted is:

<script src="http://free.hostdepartment.com/header.js" language="JavaScript"></script>

How can I disable this from loading up?

thankyou in advance

Technically, you can insert anywhere below in your html page code:

...

However, I guess, this really annoying thing is a price you pay for provider service. So, the best solution : change the provider or pay a real money:D

The above code does not work. Is there not a way to jsut disable the external .js instead of trying to mask it?

The mask code should be below the masked one. Did you check it.

If somebody can change the browser security option just using Javascript, it will be huge security hole.

It was to help me understand more about Javascripts and the way they work, not "circumvent" any laws. I did not upload this page, I just tested it locally.

The original question was - how to disable javascript?
The answer: to mask it. I used this approach to overwrite functions when they were included in the page template and I had not access to change it. Is it so illegal?
You can use almost everything, including javascript, legal or not.
Dave, I believe, it was not a good idea, to blame somebody without enough information.

You seem to have a difficulty in learning, or understanding me. So, let me put it into little manageble pieces for you:

1. Yes I uploaded a .html page to view form the hosts serevers.
2. I then realized that there was a line of code inserted into the webpage.
3. I wanted to know how to diable this, but not neccessarily re-upload the site. It was purely to give me a better understanding of external Java scripts and how they can and cant operate, and how they can be manipulated, as I have a college project which requires me to ave a knowledge of java script.
4. You seem not to have noticed that the .js file is external, and so I did not have to re-upload the page, and hence I did not violate any laws.
5. Why is this any of your concern anyway?

Do you really have nothing more constructive you could be doing with your time, other than making, what you might think to be, "witty" and sarcastic remarks?
Im sure you could get a job sheeling peas for 10 cents a time, instead of involving yourself in other peoples busniess, and trying to make as many cynical remarks as you can in one day.
