I work for MuggleNet.com, and run the somewhat-popular Caption Contest (http://www.mugglenet.com/captioncontest.shtml) on the site. For a new and cool addition to the page, I would like to give visitors the option of choosing their favorite of the 15-30 winners.
Is there a Java code that will allow guests to not only select their favorite (the 'only one choice per visit' capability is extremely optional) ones from the list, but also that will rearrange the list of them on the page putting the selection that is most voted on top?
It would work a bit like a poll, but without showing the data or going to a seperate page: Something like having a checkbox next to each selection of text. The text most clicked on will appear at the top of the list.
If there is some way to do this, please E-Mail me at SiriusBlack423@aol.com so that I may use it. You would of course be credited on the page if you like. Thanks!

I think this has to be done in the server side.

If you are seeking a way to do it in client side. its not practicle to do so.

If its server side. yopur options are based on The technology you use in your servers

I'm sorry, but what exactly do you mean? Doesn't anybody have like a Java code or something?

Java and JavaScript is completly two different worlds.

What you want to do is Usually done using a server side script.

The JavaScript is used in client side. Where usually, spontanious results are given. (like checking length of the field etc.)

For you, how to do it is based on what technology you use in the server pages. It seems you have SHTML, which sounds like an Apache server.

If you can tell us where the deatails of Votes are stored and what technology used to manipulate your server side stuff.. then prob. we can start at that point ..

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Yes, we do use SHTML for the pages. I am not entirely sure what it is exactly that you would like to know, so if you could either list what you need to help me, or if you have some sort of Aol Instant Messenger available to you we could possibly converse there for a quicker result.

All the best,
Eric
