Hey all,

I've been wondering for a while now whether it's possible to set an HTML document as the desktop background on a WinXP machine. This would be instead of an image. I seem to remember seeing the option to do so in folders back when I had Win98 but it doesn't look like you can do it on XP. It's not just folders I'm after though, I'd like to do it for the desktop :P...

Any ideas?

Jack.

The option still exists, but XP no longer places HTML documents in a separate category, just go to the Desktop tab and use Browse to point it at the HTML document you want to use.

*sobs*

I get the error "Run a DLL as an App" when I try and change my desktop...

Well, that officially sucks.

I've gone through what was suggested somewhere else...

run: sfc /scannow
run: regsvr32 mshtml.dll

Still nothing...

Anyone got any ideas how to fix this?

I'm new to these forums :D go easy on me.

And to answer you question, you can do this very easily in WinXP.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
1. What you do is you right click your destop, goto properties, then click the "Desktop" tab. At the bottom it'll say "Customize Desktop...".

2. Once you've clicked that button goto the "Web" tab up top. Make sure the "Lock desktop items" is UNchecked at the bottom.

3. Next you'll want to click "New..." and browse for your page.

4. Now you gotta close that window and click apply, your desktop will now have a little window on it containing your webpage :).

5. Move your mouse over the top of the page and you'll get a thing that can move it (If you don't then you didn't UNcheck the checkbox in step 2), now click the tiny little down arrow in the left corner of the bar that appeared. Select "Cover desktop" and your done.

Hope that's what you wanted
