It's an hour off. rhsunderground 05-07-2004, 11:16 PM it works on my end. are you sure you have it set right? AdamGundry 05-08-2004, 06:45 AM Juuitchan is right. The clock claims to be GMT, but it is currently at GMT +1. It's ok for me (I'm in the UK and we use BST at the moment which is GMT +1) but it would be a good idea to fix it. Adam pyro 05-08-2004, 09:08 AM It's set so it's right for those in the US (dang daylight savings time). Personally, I agree - it should be set to GMT time, and those of us in the US can adjust as needed. PeOfEo 05-08-2004, 09:59 AM daylight savings is stupid. I wish we just set all of our clocks all year like they are in the summer with savings, sort of forget a time zone in the atlantic, then forget one in the pacific. Well maybe that would not happen, but it would be nice if it were light out longer all year, and its annoying playing with the clocks. Originally intended to save money on candles... woopy, I am saving a lot of money on candles! iniquity101 05-08-2004, 10:11 AM one of the arguments on having bst was so poor little children could walk to school safely. PeOfEo 05-08-2004, 10:34 AM that is stupid too lol. If they have to walk miles to school the parents should be worried about them getting picked up by strange old men too, what is their protection against that? Anyone older then that age of 10 has enough sence to walk on the grass where the cars are not diving, or on the side walk, so why are kids <= 9 walking to school alone? edit: the only way a car will hit you if you are not walking on the road is if the guy is drunk, and how is well lightning going to keep a drunk guy from hitting you? If you are dumb enough to walk in the streat when it is not light out then maybe you deserve it... this is an issue for darwinism to take care of. I am a big support of darwinism in this sence, if you are an idiot maybe you should get eaten by a lion or something. Aronya1 05-08-2004, 02:31 PM Diving cars? Lightning for protection? I love it! But seriously, in rural areas, there are no sidewalks. You walk along the side of the road. PeOfEo 05-08-2004, 03:47 PM diving cars! sweet submarine mobiles. Lightning for protection, even more awesome, see a bad guy, fry him! About walking on the side of the road/in the grass, which is why we have bright clothing and reflectors. Personally, I agree - it should be set to GMT time, and those of us in the US can adjust as needed." How on earth is this GMT+1 or BST right for those in the US? Why be US-centric? If you want to do that, just use one of the US time zones. pyro 05-10-2004, 08:10 PM Originally posted by Juuitchan How on earth is this GMT+1 or BST right for those in the US?One word: Daylight Savings Time - oh wait, that was three... Actually, I'm not so much in favor of killing complete idiots as rendering them infertile... you know, weed out the gene pool and all. thys_haupt 05-10-2004, 10:50 PM how can you expect ANY child to walk home, even during daylight, while many of us cant even produce proper HTML-code? Darwin Awards (http://www.darwinawards.com/) PeOfEo 05-11-2004, 09:34 PM No, I mean idiots slow us down in day to day life. I have seen the darwin awards, the guy who was 'messing around' w/ some machinory has something fall out of his 'bag', and he put it back in and stapled his 'bag' shut. To make a long story short and stop using euphemisms, the guy had his sack infacted and one of his nuts lopped off. But he was not steril or dead so he only got honorable mention. http://www.darwinawards.com/stupid/stupid1997-10.html rhsunderground 05-11-2004, 11:18 PM stupidity should be a crime. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? need i quote more? tomhartland 05-14-2004, 11:36 AM I feel really bad for interupting, but if the "one hour out" problem is still there, it's possible that you haven't got automatic daylight saving set. (Right click the clock on the status bar, choose "Adjust Date/Time", choose "Time Zone" tab, click the "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes.) Sorry, that almost sounded like I was trying to be helpful ;) (BTW, rhsunderground, I love that last quote of yours :)) Juuitchan 05-14-2004, 03:26 PM No. The _forum_ clock is one hour off. tomhartland 05-15-2004, 02:02 PM Ah, yes, I see what you're getting it, erm, I think I'll go now... Did I leave the cooker on....... ahem. ;) PeOfEo 05-15-2004, 10:45 PM the forum time is 10:44, gmt-5... that is the same as my system time. rhsunderground 05-15-2004, 10:56 PM the forum time is 9:56, gmt-6... that is the same as my system time. what are the odds? maybe we're just special. pyro 05-15-2004, 11:40 PM Yes, the clock is right for all of us in the US. It's off for the rest of the world though, due to daylight savings time. The clock is set to GMT + 1 hour. neil9999 05-16-2004, 03:05 AM Here in England i've selected GMT time, and the times right. Neil Juuitchan 05-17-2004, 06:52 PM You are not using GMT but rather BST. Charles 10-30-2004, 10:11 PM GMT is way too inconsistent for computers. UTC is the way to go. neil9999 10-31-2004, 02:21 AM Originally posted by Charles GMT is way too inconsistent for computers. UTC is the way to go. How do you mean - GMT (or BST for the Summer) is the offical time for England, the GMT line goes through a place called Greenwich in London. Originally posted by Juuitchan You are not using GMT but rather BST. We were at your time of posting, or GMT + 1, but I selected GMT in the forum options (GMT had London next to it) and it seemed to add on an hour for the summer (and vice-versa last night). Originally posted by Aronya1 But seriously, in rural areas, there are no sidewalks. You walk along the side of the road. Aren't there? In England in rural areas the only roads without pavements are very quiet, or busy dual-carrigeways/motorways.
