Pop-Up scripting question!

I need help making a script basically..I've been searching everywhere and can't figure it out. I want to write a script that would allow me to make different sized pop-ups, and a thumbnail pic page. The pop-up size when you clicked on the thumbnail would conform to whatever image size I wanted it to be at..and have some extra space at the bottom to add a close window tag and some information. Any help would be really grateful..I've been struggling with this for a whole week and nothing is working.

I'm not trying to be a fat newb here by barging in the forums and asking questions like this, but I have no idea where to start. I've been looking through a lot of source and searching for scripts but can't figure it out.
