It's rather purple and breaks in Mozilla and has too low a contrast; has it been TOOLman Tested (http://www.carbonchip.com/toolman/toolman-tested.gif) I bet it hasn't.

Ah, sorry guys, I thought I had fixed everything, but it turns out that I had to rename the directory the form's action pointed to. Anyway, it's fixed now, sorry again!
Refresh, I plan on making upgrades to the site through and through, and I'm not particularly skilled in formatting forms. :p I'll work on it, though.
Thanks Daniel, if you don't like the purple look, though, you can change it to the Paul Jr layout. I plan on modifying this layout a bit more soon...

I'm likin the bloggy, but when I go to Style Switcher, I get the following:
XML Parsing Error: not well-formed Location: http://cmm.sonoracabinets.com/jona/switcher.php?PHPSESSID=67c266e238bacb444fc6dedd9cc46830 Line Number 45, Column 54: <td><a href="switcher.php?css=purple.css&PHPSESSID=67c266e238bacb444fc6dedd9cc46830" title="Select this style">Purple People Eater</a></td> -----------------------------------------------------^
Erm, I'm guessing its an XML problem of some sort. Anywho, besides the Purple People Eater colors, it's looking nice.

PHP automatically adds the PHPSESSID to the links, and when it does, it uses & instead of &amp;! :( I don't want to rely entirely on cookies, and I don't want to have to pass the value along every page...

Hey nice blog jona i tryed to add a comment too but no luck last nite. I love the borders on the left and right side of the divs. If you want a tutorial request i would ask you how to do that ive tryed off the A list apart tutorial but no luck.
P.S Love the links page too.
Jona
05-14-2004, 11:27 AM
Yeah, I'll probably put up a requests area with categories--Photoshop/PHP/CSS/XHTML tutorials, good links/resources--and whatnot, so that you guys can see requests that have been made and I can write out a few tutorials or somethin'. ;)
The comments area ought to work fine now, let me know if you still have trouble with it.

On the PPE, try to make the margins.. um... non-elastic. They don't need to be proportional, and PX's wouldn't hurt them. Ah, I feel so bad... everyone's commenting on the PPE schemes horrible colors, but noone's commenting on the elasticity. For shame, people! :P
Oh, just after I commented I noticed that "powered by xBlog lite" thing. Did you code that, or..? I hope you aren't using freeware... you're too good with PHP for that ;) You might wanna have the comments display 1st at top, as well, I 'replied' to Paul's thinking he just posted it, and yeah... the ensuing unpleasantness occured. Also the form on top of the comments might be a good idea as well.
Ah, nothing but criticism... sorry bout that :)

xBlog Lite is Ryan's script. I agree, Jona is too good for that! And about the most recent comment at the top thing, if you take a look at pretty much any blog site, you will see that the first comment is always at the top.

Alright, everyone, let's all ignore Jona until he makes his own blog!! ;) And, IMHO, Common != Right. I like the latest at the top, as well as the comment script.
Jona
05-14-2004, 06:10 PM
I got lazy and didn't have a MySQL database to work with, plus I'd heard good things about Ryan's software, so I decided that this would be the perfect time to test it out. Why should I reprogram what someone else already has programmed and given to me? I don't feel like programming my own blogging system... not right now. Besides, how many of you use flatfile for your blogs?
Omega, I like the first comment to come first, I don't read a page backwards -- I know you use Greek characters, but let's just say, <html dir="ltr" lang="en-US">, all right? :D
Oh and I did use pixels on my margins for my PPE layout -- is something not fitting together right?
Ben Rogers
05-14-2004, 06:20 PM
Don't you mean lang="en:us" ? :-D
Anyways, I don't like to scroll if I don't have to. The most recent comment should be the first seen. But, I guess it's a matter of preference, so it's your call. Also, to quote you, not verbatim but "Everyone else's code is foreign". If you make your own blog, you can have it better suit your needs. Hopefully you'll get off your lazy ass (or on your lazy ass, I should say) and make one of your own. I'll keep bugging ya until you do.
And for the record, Ω (Omega) and Ε (Epsilon) are the only greek characters I use, English is the only language I speak, different languages just mix things up (Why else would "Sayanora" be used), and I use flatfiles for my blog.

I've never seen "en:us" used. I've seen "en-US" used at the W3C in the HTML 4.01 specification examples, though.
And I will get around to making my own blogging system, and you're taking my statement out of context. His code is foreign, but that doesn't mean I have to look at it to make it work. Plus, since it's on my local computer, I can figure it out easier and he wrote the code for portability so it's easier to understand than ~cough~ my own, at times. Aside from all that, I chose purple because I don't see a lot of purple sites, and the name "Purple People Eaters" is totally radical!

And if I am recalling correctly "Purple People Eaters" is the nickname for the Minessota Vikings.
Jona
05-14-2004, 06:34 PM
...I didn't know that! But, it looks like you're right (http://www.vikingupdate.com/history/historyprofiles/people-eaters.html)! Hmm, I'd only heard it in a song (http://www.shebwooley.com/ppe.htm)... "One-eyed, one-horned, flying, purple people eater..."
Ben Rogers
05-14-2004, 06:42 PM
Jona... don't make fun of the non existant typo... or you WILL be driving around with no brakes... or at least none that aren't cut :p Just kidding. And taking things out of context makes them so much clearer doncha think? :D I was kidding just mentioning foreign code then going (Sound familiar?), but... nah. And, hey, if you want purple, more power to you... and there's millions of purple sites probably.. but they are all Geocites sites made by little 4 year old brats. I mean kids!!!!

<offtopic>
*Clears throat*
Well I saw the thing comin' out of the sky
It had one long horn, one big eye
I commenced to shakin' and I said, hoo-eee
It looks like a purple people eater to me
{Refrain}
It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
One-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
A one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me - One eye?
Well he came down to earth and he lit in a tree
I said Mr. Purple People Eater, don't eat me
I heard him say in a voice so gruff
I wouldn't eat you 'cause you're so tough
{Refrain}
I said Mr. Purple People Eater, what's your line
He said eatin' purple people and it sure is fine
But that's not the reason that I came to land
I wanna get a job in a rock 'n' roll band
Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin' purple people eater
Pigeon-toed, under-growed, flyin' purple people eater
We wear short shorts - Friendly little people eater
What a sight to see - Ow!
And then he swung from the tree and he lit on the ground
He started to rock, really rockin' around
It was a crazy ditty with a swingin' tune
Sing a bop-bop-a-loopa-loppa-lum-bam-boom
Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin' purple people eater
Pigeon, toad, under-growed, flyin' purple people eater
I like short shorts - Flyin' purple people eater
What a sight to see - Purple People?
And then he went on his way and then what do ya know
I saw him last night on a TV show
He was blowing it out, a-really knockin' em dead
Playin' rock and roll music through the horn in his head
Daniel, you see what happens when you don't try out other people's software? ;) It doesn't use a database, it uses flat file -- the Lite version does, anyway. I'm almost certain that xBlog Pro (Beta) uses a MySQL database. But like I said, I don't have access to a database on the server I chose to use.

We pull back in with food, while keeping an eye out for the deen. Right as we pull through the gate of the parking lot, he walks out of the auditorium, part of his usual patrol root, and we are like ****. We said "hey ludaway, we brought you some forune cookies" (we had chinese). He said thanks guys, Ill need your studen ids too. A dollar was hangen out of my wallet, he asked if it was a bribe, I said it isnt, but if you take it I will be looking in the other direction. He didn't take it or the cookies... but from what i hear the guy is easy to bribe. He will take wendy's burgers and $10s... WE DIDNT HAVE EITHER OF THOSE... GRRR.

Lol. He probably would've settled for $20, or the promise of no blunt object to his windshield.

If you did not read the title bar it does say "coming soon"

Does no one look at the titlebar? Ben, no flaming; that's not cool. Thanks, Peo, for the comments. I'd make more flash-related things, but...My free trial ran out and I haven't really had the time to buy it and learn more as of late.

LOL. Jona, I'm kidding. You should know that by now.
Soccer, I don't read title bars, unless I have a lot of tabs open. That's my excuse, lame as it is.

I know you're kidding, 'cause you're talking to me, but does everyone else know that? You can't always be certain, hence you should avoid practicing it. Just a thought for the future...

i noticed that on the link to the homepage that you have at the top of your site (Computer MasterMinds) that when you mouseover, an actual underlined hyperlink appears just before the image switches. this only happened the first time i mouseover-ed in firefox, firebird, and IE, but everytime i did it in opera. also in IE, the mouseout back to the original image only works when you mouseout from the top

Tsk, tsk. It's the browser's fault to comply with standards, not mine. I did it right, they did it wrong. ;)

well if ALL the major browsers have a problem, then you might think about adjustments.

Opera isn't very major, as far as I'm concerned, but it isn't a problem. Neither is Firefox, which I do consider major. IE is a major, though, and does have a problem, but I can't reproduce it on my computer's IE. I'm going to be unruly and arrive at a very illegitimate conclusion, which will solve the entire predicament at hand: there's something wrong with your IE. :D
I should mention, though, that IE does keep the "mouseover" state on the header text until I mouseover another interactive object, such as a link or nav item. Moving it off the top of the browser doesn't seem to make a difference, and it isn't a major issue as far as I'm concerned anyway.

Look, man, don't get on my bad side. You're pushing it from constructive criticism to nit-picking... I'm unsubscribing from this post now.

I’m not nit-picking, darn it. :(
You cannot deny that the dropshadow is not as it should be… why would you want it to be not as it should be?
