I can get their chicken fillet sandwich or a square burger... either way it has better fries and sandwiches then the all other fast food joins combined (except for arbys, their roast beef is unmatched... but that is only one of my many moods). Conor 05-18-2004, 06:20 PM No it doesnt I love my iBook and am saving up for a new G5, also if we are talking fast food I have to agree with Peo that Wendy's is the best Sam 05-18-2004, 06:54 PM What? PeOfEo 05-18-2004, 07:21 PM I don't go to fast food as much when the Bono's bbq drive in window is open... when it is after 11:00am (I think it opens then) I am getting my bbq sliced pork sandwich or smoked turkey. Conor 05-19-2004, 04:50 PM here's one of the big problems with macs - you can buy one mac for the price of 3 pc's that will outperform it in most aspects of computing you are seriously misinformed. The PC may have better specs but that does not mean it will not run faster or better. Also with a Mac I dont have to deal with viruses, or the famed blue screen or anything, I turn it on and it works. My windows PC which supposedly has better specs yet i can run more applications on my Mac without a bit of lag. Its all personal preference. Now I really don't feel tha- Look!!! A SPOON! Shiny.... Anywho, I'd have to say that I prefer PCs. My only problem with them is Windows, and how it has so much unnecessary junk. I personally scraped down this old piece of Windows ME junk to bare bones (and promptly filled it up with good software) but I really don't notice any lag. Even when I've got my apache server, mysql database, html-kit, Mozilla, IE, and Realplayer all on at once. Just me, though. Macs LOOK cooler, though... My windows PC which supposedly has better specs yet i can run more applications on my Mac without a bit of lag. Its all personal preference. well, i never used macs for many large scaled applications other than flash mx, which didn't work that well with macs. IE didn't hold up well either, which doesn't surprise me because it's IE. i guess it all depends on what you use them for, though graphically i would vote for macs. and there aren't a whole lot of steak and shakes floating around nebraska, but whenever i find one i try to go :D Conor 05-19-2004, 10:58 PM it all depends what Mac OS you were on as well OSX is amazing IMO kal'lar 05-20-2004, 09:51 AM Well theres a couple where I live.... in fop land. john_h 05-21-2004, 04:02 AM i use windoze based pc and live linux on other computer... just for the record and for the flames I might get from this thread... if you slam mac, you probalby never used one for the right purpose and you dont know what you are talking about. run pro-tools and edit some multi-track audio, then tell me about it. ask any audio professional what they use. go visit a production studio and see what they are running. if its a studio worht a bean, they are running mac for ALL of their production and probably windows for their business offices and workstations because they are pros and know what to run where. windows for office work and mac for multimedia. you wont find people on this forum, likely, who are on here with those types of macs, coz they arent meant to be used like that, so you will obviously hear a biased win32 opinion here. Mac is meant for industry, not gaming. a good deal of people here are gamers or web developers, not multimedia people. also... windows ME is not a multimedia platform, despite what you heard. also... dont compare specs on mac and pc... it doesnt translate quite so easily as gb=gb or mHz=mHz... rhsunderground 05-23-2004, 12:06 AM Originally posted by john_h ask any audio professional what they use. it's true. when i got my cd recorded, it was entirely macs. But you still have to deal with massive security flaws. Look at what Apple finally got around to providing a patch for: http://theinquirer.net/?article=16090 Too bad they didn't manage to patch the whole problem: http://theinquirer.net/?article=16104 Better surf in trusted waters, else you might encounter a wipeout. BTW, there have been some virii written for the Mac, but they don't spread as easily, due to Apple's miniscule marketshare (which probably also why Macs seem to receive less attention from the virii writers). "This virus is horrible Jim, its killing off 90% of 2% of the worlds computers!" Originally posted by MstrBob Macs LOOK cooler, though... Ill get the pics of my pc back online, hold on -- gotta get my server back up, got a new mobo. I have blue cold cathodes in this thing. I have a front fan pannel to control them and all of my fans and a front back lit temp guage. It looks better then your shiny mac. I wish I took the pics with the flash out so you can see the cathodes better though :(. http://quasi-ke.servebeer.com/pics/mylife/1.jpg http://quasi-ke.servebeer.com/pics/mylife/3.jpg http://quasi-ke.servebeer.com/pics/mylife/4.jpg my pc looks better then your pansy mac. pc: for a week I will only be running on 128mb of ram, can you feel the lag? This new motherboard is nice, but when my ram gets plugged into it they get into a hissy fit, so I have to use my slow pc2100 - 128 backup stick :(. But this new motherboard has sata-150mb... So I should be getting 1 more hd in this thing... a grand total of 3, that should be enough space for a little while. Also, when I get new ram, I will have a nice beefy platform to oc on. Conor 05-25-2004, 06:49 AM Oh, I am well aware there are many security flaws I didnt say there wasnt, I just said I didnt have to deal with the viruses like I do on my PC PeOfEo 05-25-2004, 12:09 PM Just tell your mom not to open email attachments... I told me mom never to open attachments, if she wants to she must ask me firts. I disabled the attachments that could contain militious stuff. That is the one way I get worms, viruses, trojans, because my mom opened an attachment... (thats how I got netsky in particular). Then once it gets on her pc, it makes its way over to mine when I am moving files around over the network. I have had very few backdoors, worms, viruses, etc, that I have gotten on my own, and I am sitting in a dmz. I only have pc-cillin to protect me, and for a while I did not have any anti virus software, made my way through the internet just fine though, scanned periodically would never find a thing. The biggest security flaw in the windows os is ignorant users, they let themselves be victims by downloading coolsong.mp3 .exe on kazaa. Download winamp. davidbrent 05-29-2004, 02:16 PM Winamp is perfect for my uses. It is quick loading and does not crash when loading mutiple tracks. I also reccomend it whole heartidly. Best Wishes, David john_h 06-04-2004, 02:11 AM ok, 1 more time; mac is for multi-media: any doubts, try to play some online games pc is for office/home/gaming: any doubts, try to record, then edit multi-track audio set-top-box is for biz tv is for vegging internet is for argueing and chatting (apparently) you wouldnt try to take a lexus off-road, would you? use your pc for pc stuff, and use a mac if you a reason to. people who have macs sometimes play games, no problem there, but its a cross-over and is not what the mac excells at, just like all but the best pc isnt as good as a comparable mac at multi-media. Mac is not for office work, despite they make Office and all that Corel stuff for it, its more cross-over, just like you have movie maker in xp, but the pc aint 'the best' at makin movies. my recomendation: 1. if you dont like mac, dont buy one. you probably have no need for it in the first place. 2. dont say things that make you look ignorant like; I dont like them just because, and if you do, you should have at least used one for more than a half hour. 3. dont say you dont like something because you either dont understand it or how to use it. Neczy 06-04-2004, 08:03 PM ;_; I had an ibook, but I dropped it down 4 flights of stairs and it still worked! but the screen was cracked :( so i had to get rid of it :( PeOfEo 06-05-2004, 11:38 PM I have seena laptop get hit by a truck... it still worked but the screen was completely destroyed, you could see one corner of it, the rest was black. They had to get rid of it needless to say... rhsunderground 06-06-2004, 10:45 PM i have two laptop "computers" (and by computers i mean really heavy paper weights that have a calculator and notepad.) one of them is so old that it has and external floppy drive and many of the letters on the keys have worn off. the display went out on the other one, and so about $500 later it's back to a red tinted screen and the CD drive makes a God-awful noise when you start the comp up and/or open the cd drive. PeOfEo 06-06-2004, 11:27 PM I would just want one with dreamweaver iis (or cassini) and access or enterprise manager. That was I could script from school. webdeveloper.com
