I like pyro's, but he wanted to change it once to one with a kid that looked terribly smug - it was great; I'm beginning to regret that I convinced him to keep his old one.
I also like my own, as I am a very large fan of the Metroid video game series, and what's better, the hero - or should I say, heroine - is a woman! :D (Hey guys, take it from me, the girls like it when you say this kind of thing, so get used to putting yourself down un-manly-like. They'll be more sympathetic to you, in most cases. Don't tell them I said this, though...) :p

Linkin Park are pretty good but I didn't like Meteora much. Generally I listen to whatever is on Radio 1 or Key 103 when I'm on the school bus, they play all kinds of RnB crap but occasionally something good will come on.
When it comes to music I'm a bit weird, I like D12 - My Band but I also kinda like some of the music that Pink does, I have an Evanescence album and also a Nine Inch Nails Album. I'd say that I'm pretty easy going really, I even like some Classical music!

I like D12 - My Band! My mom doesn't let me listen to rap, but she doesn't know what I do when she's not around. I listen to 97.9 "the box" which plays rap only, 94.5 "the buzz" which plays alternative rock (Linkin Park, Trapt, Hoobastank, 3 Doors Down, Limp Bizkit, Evanescence, etc.). They're my favorite station. Then there's 96.5 which plays a lot of 80s (but mostly the good 80s) and some Evanescence and Creed (w00t! Go Creed!!) and other things like that. Then we have like three other 70s-80s stations. lol. My mom likes that older music, I hate it... Who listens to the Beach Boys!?
I like a fairly wide variety of music as well, but I absolutely dislike classical music as well as Country. (Kind of ironic, though, as I live in the state of Texas. :p)

Let's see...
P.O.D. is ok.. (only have Satellite), Cold pwns... especially YOTS, Disturbed kicks ass in general, Linkin Park is pretty good, but Hybrid Theory is still their best. Limp Bizkit is good... I have CS&HFW + RMV... RMV is just horrible tho, Evanescensce was good, but they get old.
Trapt is ok, Led Zeppelin... much pwnage, System of a Down: gotta be in the mood, but they still kix0r ass, Korn isn't too bad, Chevelle is pretty good, Deftones ya gotta be in the mood, 40 foot echo, I only have 1 of their songs (online friend from the RDS on a3 sent it to me long time ago), but it was good, Adema is good too... I've recently been obsessed with Placebo, Yellowcard, and Aphrodite because of their music on SSX3. Techno-ish, but I still gotsta hear some more of their music. Well, that's all I can think of right now. Rock, pretty much, with some techno if I hear a good song.
And evil is the only way. :D So I like my avatar (Avatar = Japanese aku character = evil).. but make no mistakes I'm american, not Native American or anything (You know who you are.)

d12, 3 days grace, korn, rage against the machine, couple trapt songs, some eminem, krs one, acdc, cypress hill, some creed, dmx, pod, papa roach, some kazzer, linkin park, some mad capsule, some nelly, some mxpx, offspring, queen had a few good ones, i dont mind smashmouth, sum 41, swollen members is alright, system of a down is ok, tubthumping (chumba wumba), some white stripes
and for parodies, my favorites are weird al yankovic, adam sandler, and opie and anthony.

Haven't we all figured this all out by now? All the really good music is from the 60's-70's. Two words everyone, classic rock. Although there is some good current rock, though I'm really fussy when it comes to modern rock. The only exception probably would by Linkin Park... But come on, THE BEATLES, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, and PINK FLOYD!!! Who can touch these bands? No one, plain and simple. well I guess all I am trying to say is, My avatar is the best. Also the scorpians rule, Yngvie Malmstein is reat, halen (before hagar), and def leppard are cool, and a lot of metal rocks.
=== Peo's top 5 favorite metal bands ===
iced earth -- good metal band, almost thrash because they do a lot of upbest stuff, but still just regular heavy/black metal
blind guardian--one of the best power metal bands of all time
symphonyX -- lately my favority power metal, usually I hate keyboards interfacing w/ rock, but these guys can do it right, and they only use the keyboard in some songs, go download them they are not half bad.
savior machine -- great christian power metal, stright from revelation
megadeath-- a spin off from metalica, they do not suck like metalica though. They are some good thrash.

Why Computers Are Better Than Girlfriends (as quoted from several websites)
1. You wouldn't bother to play Strip Poker all night with a girlfriend.
2. No girlfriend can hold your undivided attention for 30 hours in a stretch.
3. Your computer never wants to be taken out for dinner.
4. Your computer doesn't mind if you are unshaved, haven't showered this week or are sitting by it in your underwear.
5. If a computer gets a virus, it can be cleaned away.
6. No matter how ugly your computer is, you can show it to your friends.
7. With a computer, you can press the buttons without it getting sore.
8. A computer doesn't mind you using other computers as well.
9. You will never find your computer in bed with your best friend.
10. Computers never, EVER gets a period.
one of the sites (http://members.fortunecity.com/peggyr/Jokes/Computer_Humor/Index.html) has quite the list of computer jokes.

That's truly sad... I'd even go as far to say that it wasn't funny... well, maybe not... But a computer can never substitute a woman... That's just wrong.
Oh by the way, you can sit in your office and finger a computer and won't get fired for it...

Yes, the internet is great, and amazing, and all that.
Transformers SUCK. It is the worst, gaudiest, lamest show in existence, (next to "The Mullets", and "Hamtaro".) If you must watch anime, then... Zoids (both series pwned), DBZ (The Saiya-Jin Saga only), Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, .hack//Sign (Best series EVER), Lupin the 3rd... and a few others I can't think of right now. Oh, yeah, and if you've never seen "Akira"... he** yes.
It's a shame noone has created of a "reach through the monitor and beat the living he** out of someone" feature. Stop dissing modern rock- have you ever read the lyrics? A large amount IS pointless, I'll grant you that, but some bands do have meaningful lyrics (particularly System of a Down). LB does have meaningless lyrics, but good music, so leave 'em alone. And no Classic Rock has meaningful lyrics.. and out of those bands, only Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are any good. How old are you anyways, Peo, 17...? Then you're a poser too. :D You act like a bitter old coot, but your a teen. That's just sad, really. :-D;)

you must be talking about that new transformers show... armada is it? That is not even transformers, that is immitation, so was the beast wars show. The original transformers went off the air in the mid 90s and started in the 80s. I loved it, it was even a movie, that I have here on video cd... it had some great hair music for a sound track. Omega, you would not know good music if it crawled up your butt. I 'diss' some modern rock when it really does suck. Alternative rock sucks. Alternative rock sucks. Alternative rock sucks. System of a down does have aning, Ill give you that, play their songs backwords, I bet they say blow up some buildings... I know that was a bit wrong, but they honestly mock christianity and say a lot of other hateful stuff in their songs, if you read the lyrics it is apparent. Classic rock is a lot better then this alternative trash that plays on the radio today, and punk too. Punk might have been good years ago, but todays punk is dead because it is too commercial. That is all todays 'alternative' rock is too, money money money. There is good music that is modern, but it is not punk or alternative, it is metal (minus metalica which is now a smoldering heap of money driven trash), metal is not always angry or shouty like the stereotype is either. It is when a band because more intereste din the money they can make then their sound that music becomes trash. I am 17 in a few weeks... its called an ounce of maturity omega, I act my age.

Peo, not only are all those listed shows an insult to entertainment as a whole, you fail to realize the difference between immature and informal. Please don't question my maturity, which in most cases is not impacted by age. Next to calling me a liar, that is the most insulting comment you can make. And it's obvious you don't like modern rock, which IS good music, but most classic rock and metal I detest as much as classical music itself. Most of it is washed out, stereotypical, bad music. Some is good, but I still think modern rock is better. Anyways, you can stick to your... whatever you listen to, I'm listening to the Deftones, and lovin' it :D.

bah. Ill call you immature because you listen to immature music and your taste is not refined. Would you like me to analize alternative rock band by band and get down into the nitty gritty of why it sucks so bad and how it is music without a soul? Classic rock is the best music of eras past, it is rock with a purpose, rock that was great. Listen to the scorpians, they had some of the best rock love ballads ever. If you listen to metal you owuld know it is not that stereotypical garbage, which the bands mudvane and I guess I could lump in ramstein personify. Those bands are utter crap. Go download some blind guardian, some symphonyX, some iced earth, some mega death and see what power metal and thrash are all about.
Ben Rogers

"my taste is not refined"... this is a VERY common comment someone makes when someone's taste is different from their own. True enough, I may not like the the music I do now in years to come, but I highly doubt I'll like oldies metal.

refined, refined, refined, not redefined. Your music is all about money, and the bands care less about the quality of their sound then their gimics... you are getting ripped off when you support this kind of music. Like I said, go download some of the scorpians and some of the bands I mentioned before, see what classic rock and metal are all about before you go on saying its washed out. I have heard alternative rock before and I say it is utter crap, listen to what I listen to and compare.

If I could, I would- that way I'd be able to actually argue, having heard what your talking about, but alas, Dial-up. Unless I feel like spending another 2 hours waiting for it to download.... not gonna happen. My opinions so far are based on what I've previously heard.
Plus, you don't know the band's agendas, opinions, and/or reasons for doing what they do, and for the most part, it doesn't matter. If a baker doesn't like baking, are you being ripped off when you buy their bread? Anyways, I STRONGLY doubt the incentive bands have for playing is any different now than it was 'then'.

That is what is happening with your music, have you ever noticed that you get maybe 1 good song when you buy a cd and then the rest is filler? They did not taken any time when they wrote that, they just needed to get a song out. Back 'then' music was not as corrupted as it is now by record lables.

No, I haven't noticed... but I have a screening process: if my sister (into heavy metal, so this doesn't apply much anymore) says it's a good CD, or my friend Jeff (into all the same music as me, but is more obsessed with Led Zeppelin than I'll ever be) says it's a good CD, I'll buy it/ burn it. So, I don't have much experience with bad CDs... and seeing as I have quite a few CDs, that's saying something.

This thread grows ever more. Just to catch up, I have seen Cowboy Bee-Bop, Inuyasha, Big-O, and some Trigun. Basically, I watch Adult Swim (on Cartoon Network for all of us night-owls. Plus futurama and FAMILY GUY!) Anywho, let me just say that despite what any of you say, I KNOW that Classic Rock was awesome. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors - they all put a lot of thought, heart, soul, and a helluva lot of talent into their music. But sadly, EVERY genre has bands that ruin it, that destory the credibility of the genre to non-fans. When I think metal, I think cheesy hair bands of late 80s. When I think of punk, I think of Good Charolette. When I think of alternative rock, I think of Poppy, I hate my life, pseudo-rock. But, this is simply my opinion. So I must agree with rhsunderground (would be shorter if I knew your name, eh?)

Take me under/ I'm giving in to you/ I'm dying tonight/ I'm giving in to you/ Watch me crumble/ I'm giving in to you/ I'm crying tonight/ I'm giving in to you
-"Giving In", by Adema
It's about teenagers, drugs, and depression pretty much, but it's a positive message, which you'd only get if you listened to the lyrics... it's saying how they ruin the lifes of everyone involved. Good song... you should listen to it :D
j33buSs, Jona! Are you always this upset about swears? Damn... you wouldn't be able to stand my school; the only person I haven't heard mutter/ say/ yell anything profane is the headmaster.

I can stand swears. It's not that they offend me, or that I can't stand them. I just don't like to hear them. I've seen a lot of movies, that unfortunately have had an excellent storyline and an excessive amount of swears. It didn't make me sick, I still watched the movie; I just didn't enjoy hearing the swears, and I don't think everyone that wants to read a post should have to read them as well. Obviously when expressing something, such as if you hate something with a passion, there is room for that. I don't agree with their use in any case, but I can understand their use in some cases.

Otherwise I watch the movie or something, if there is no movie then it is obviosuly not important, it is also not important if that movie is no in the video store or on network tv.

Don't Judge Me By My Computer! It's an out-of-the-box Dell. Only customizing I ever did was a RAM upgrade (woopty-damn-doo!)
Proc: Pentium III processor GenuineIntel ~864 Mhz
RAM: 190 MB of plain old ram (no SD, DR, ZYX ram, just plain old ram!)
hdds: This acronym confuses me x.x
Video: I don't know, probably crappy
800 x 600 Monitor! 18 Gbs of storage! Windows ME! Creme-Colored, Dell Logo-stamped everything! ARRGH!
Yeah, so if you couldn't tell, I'm not all that fond of this computer, but I didn't buy it, pick it, or was involved in the picking process at all! I've done all that I can with good software, but the specs are sad compared to yours, Peo, and a lot of the people on this board!

hdds, hard drives. Um... ram will be ddr, sd, or rd. It comes in
8 (yea on a 486 :p)
16 (old days sd)
32 (old days sd)
64 (still a pretty low number)
128
256
512
1024
2048 (well this is big but it could come in this)
and so on, it goes in powers of 2.
So how the crap did you get 190...
128 + 64 = 192
128 + 32 + 16 + 8 + 4 + 2 = 190... thats a hard number to get to.

But somewhere along the way, I lost 2 MBs, as my computer will only tell me that I have 190. Argh, this computer is so fricken quirky anyway, I've given up on it. I'm not a trekie!!!! I loved Star Wars which is MUCH different from Star Trek. Really now, never confuse the two. I feel your pain with the network, I use a Linksys wireless router to split cable internet to the computers at home. Twas a major headache, especially dealing with one of the computers which had Windows XP. Took me forever until I realized that I had to give it our network's actual encryption key, other than the passphrase used by linksys to generate the key. Did they tell me this anywhere? No. It was two months before I got that computer on the network. But in the end, it's all very much worth it. I never would have downloaded Mozilla, Firefox, Opera, apache, and many other programs without high-speed!

Oh, crap!!! Both my comp and the family comp have WinXP... I'm screwed, aren't I..? No security stuffs though, except for individual firewalls. Actually, the network was easy to set up, but it didn't do anything. Now the LinkSys thing connected to the modem won't recognize the connection... and yes, the directions are shizz. They even made my dad flip out. He _almost_ put his fist through the monitor... but he gave up instead. We'll have to try again tomorrow...
And no... HP blows. And sad zombie pwns. :D JP.
MstrBob
06-05-2004, 09:15 PM
Turn off WinXP's personal firewall. It will stop the computers from being part of the Linksys network. If you have a broadband router, it has it's own firewall, anyway. Is it wireless or wired? Wireless is evil, but me mum didn't like the idea of drilling holes in the walls for cables.
Ben Rogers
06-05-2004, 10:14 PM
How would I go about disabling the firewall? I've never had any security issues; hence I've never messed with the security settings. The routers are wireless; the comps are on different floors, and my dad would sooner forget DSL altogether than drill holes in the walls... and he wouldn't trust me doing that myself in...
Thanks for the tip, btw... this thing is a pain in the ass, but I'm having trouble thinking it's not worth it... I'm watching music videos. I've had dial up all my life, and now I'm watching music videos on launch.yahoo.com. Hell yes. :p

Dude... that's cold, even if you're joking. I heard he died of pneumonia.
Smarty Jones lost the Belmont Stakes! No triple crown!
I have the exact same thing, then! Go to My Network Places, right click and click properties. Here you configure your network settings. The last tab, I think, should deal with firewall. Just a little check box. Uncheck it. It is a cool feature, but uneccessary and inconvenient with a network. It is quite helpful if ONE of your computers is wired to the ROUTER. Open up Mozilla, type http://192.168.1.1
You configure your router here. If you use WPA encryption at 128bits (HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) it will ask you for a passphrase. Type something random, whatever you want. You only need it once. It will produce a key. Copy down Key 1 exactly as is. You will need to enter this encryption key on all of your computers. Without this, anybody with a wireless adapter can use your network! Can get rather involved, but it is definately worth it.
Ben Rogers
06-05-2004, 10:49 PM
Yes it is cold, and yes I was joking. And my Dad told me all about Smarty's loss. He was very upset... me? I hate horses.
When I was six, I was at a farm down the street (Middleborough is halfway between rural and suburban) and I had climbed up one of those corrugated steal fences to pat a horse (wicked tall thing) and it went to bite my hand, and I fell off the fence when I pulled away and smacked my head on something; I forget what. Since then I've loathed horses.
As for the routers... my family comp is wired to the modem and the modem is wired to the router... downstairs I have just a router... how else could I've done it..?
As for the security and configuration... I don't think we have any kind of encryption or whatever. My dad can worry about that. :D Also, that's where we got hung up... it won't let us log in, using any password ever supplied to this comp. The instructions say leave the username blank and put "admin" in the password field, but of course that doesn't work either...
MstrBob
06-05-2004, 10:58 PM
As for horses, me mum loves horses. She was raised on a farm and always loved horses. She watches those big three races and such, and was screaming. As for me and horses, they're rather tall. I like them fine so long as we're seperated by a nice, tall wall.
See, I have cable going to modem, modem going into router. Router sends out internet to all computers. I have four computers, with one (mine) being wired to the modem, and the other 3 using wireless adapters. WinXP is evil when it comes to this (ironic, since it is supposed to be networking made easy  ) Actually, I think you are supposed to put username:admin, and password:blank. Or maybe its password admin as well. Of course, I don't know which router you use, so this could be different. Instructions (http://www.linksys.com/support/support.asp?action=search) Used that to set everything up. It only took me two months.
Ben Rogers
06-05-2004, 11:09 PM
LOL. No wall and a shotgun in hand is another combo that makes horses (horsi? heece? :p) tolerable. :D
Cable, eh? I'm working with DSL. And I only have 2 comps, so that make it easier.. and using admin in any field, once or twice doesn't seem to work. It must hate me, lol. It'll just give me the prompt again, in both IE and Firefox (Yes, I downloaded it on the family comp. I'll have to delete IE to make everyone use it now ;))
MstrBob
06-05-2004, 11:14 PM
Wait a second, wait a second. If you only have TWO computers, you don't need a router. You simply wire the two together, or hook them both up with wireless adapters. It's called Ad-hoc mode, or some such. No router is needed because there is only traffic between two computers, no switching is needed. One computer gets the dsl, and then shares it with the other computer. A lot easier than with a router (Infastructure mode).
Ben Rogers
06-05-2004, 11:22 PM
Er... but would you still be setting up a network...? Or could you use the Router AS an adapter? Because the router and an adapter have already been purchased, and I don't know if we can return the router. Also, that's what I thought was going to happen anyways: the DSL gets into the router (donno how else to phrase it) and then gets sent down to the adapter.
But... if I'm wrong in my thinking (highly likely/ definite) then we'll have to get another adapter... but now that's a TOTALLY different thing. The adapter (already works with the 'network', it's getting the DSL to go into it that's the problem, basically it's not doing anything) didn't really have anything to set up a network or anything. I know I'm in over my head... but once this is set up, it's done.
EDIT: Just so you know, I can't work on it now because my aunt is over, and my Dad doesn't want me to mess with it unless he's there...
MstrBob
06-05-2004, 11:25 PM
Actually, the broadband router takes the incoming DSL signal from the modem, and splits it equally to all computers in the network. If you have but two computers, you only need two adapters, and the one computer hooked up to the modem shares the signal. If you already have the router and adapter, you can use it, it's just unnecessary (except for future network growth).
Ben Rogers
06-05-2004, 11:30 PM
If I simply bought another adapter, could I plug in place of the router and be all set..? If it really is that much easier, then I'll do it. Thanks for your help again.
<offtopicness>Would it hurt Korn that much to put out a normal looking video..? Out of the ones on Launch, the most normal is "Right now (3D version)"</offtopicness>
MstrBob
06-05-2004, 11:42 PM
Well, in terms of actually setting up the network, its a bit simpler. But either way, you have to set up your internet connection to be shared, which seems to be your problem. There should be a wizard in your Network Places with an option to set up your network. along the way it will ask you about internet. On the computer with DSL, select, I want to share the internet on this computer with others on my network. On your other computer, run the wizard and select "This computer connects to another computer which uses the internet." It's all about the wizards, man! I will probably be of more help tomorrow, as then I will actually be able to use my one computer with XP and give a bit more help x.x

I've had... Homer, Bart, Donkey, Kermit... I'm sure I had more, but I can't think of them. And Omega, you've had at least 5, as you forgot the Penny Arcade one ;)

Oh, yeah. Can you walk down a block, and find an Indian, Korean, Pakistani, Sushi, Chinese, and Italian Restaurant, complete with a Deli run by an Indian man on the corner? And no one can touch our bagels and pretzels.
And for the record, cows suck, and miles and miles of corn fields is nothing to brag about...

yeah, you guys should come check it out. i live in a metro of 400,000-ish people. it's quite different from the east coast. people actually might say hello to you . and if cows suck, you must be vegetarian?

I don't like strange people saying hello to me, it's discomforting. When I visit me grandparents in Indiana, they people behind the counters are way too friendly. They feel the need to talk to me constantly (despite me not knowing them) whilst preparing my food. I rather less talk and more cooking, I didn't buy a conversation. And people in the midwest talk so sloooooooowwwwwly!

Yeah, but the question is, how good is it? I wouldn't trust a sushi restaurant 1000+ miles from an ocean, either. And since cows suck so much, I have no problem eating them :D

EDIT: Chinese redneck, as in a chinese guy who moved d33p south...

Yes, but sushi is supposed to be raw. So what if the beef is a bit old? I'm going to throw it over the open flames anywho...
And who said there'd be any Chinese running the Chinese restaurant? Most of the pizzarias out here aren't run by Italians, our local Japanese/sushi restaurant is run by a Korean, and our favorite Italian restaurant has a french chef.
