Domains, possible transfer...

I have a domain that is expiring in less than a week. I have been looking for a new domain provider, as the company I go through seems a bit much for a yearly renewal ($35 USD) So I am wondering if anyone has suggestions on who I ought to transfer to. I'm also thinking about perhaps changing my current hosting company, as there are better deals available, and I am interested in finding a cheap provider that also provides .ASP capabilities, also SQL database functionality, and more space than what I have (60 MB) I currently pay $7.95 a month. While I'm asking, can anyone recommend a cheap RELIABLE ISP in the US?

Your hosting and domain registration are 2 sperate issues.

Most registars will not allow for transfers to happen if your set to expire in 7 days or less. Most require at least 30 days to do this.

transfering your domain to another hosting company is fairly painless. Depending on what you have on your site. I would run a test on the new server before moving your DNS to that new server. To make sure all of your pages and DB's work.
