Preload images?

I'm making this site with a template using photoshop and then saving it for web, and i have multiples images sliced because i thought it would be better to have small slices than just big chunks, and any way i do need small images for my menu. The thing is that my site loads quite ugly, pic by pic. I would like to preload the images and then "cabum" display the whole page at once. Is this even posible:confused: i don't care if i have to put a loading page in front of it even though it is html. But now that would be annoing as well:confused: any ideas?

It's not worth it, just hope that they have broadband. Preloading the images will take just as long -- they're downloading the same data. Putting up a "preloading web page" message probably would be frustrating, anyway.
