order of events in NS4

I have some javascript to create a menu using layers. IT works great in IE 4+ and NS6+. But for some reason in NS4.x I get the following problem. The menu shows up and I can navigate on it but when I go from the layer back to the link the layer disappears even tho the link have a onmouseover event that is suppose to display the layer.
