high traffic band website design
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whole Lotta Metal is a touring music production and has just finished its first leg of the uk tour, plans are now set for usa, japan, germany , scandinavia and australia, most of these are looking likely with the japan and usa maybe to the back end of this year.
We desperately need a new website, I run the old one at www.wholelottametal.com but im not that good at it and its taking up too much time.
At first this would be an unpaid contract until site completion then a small fee and free advertising rights on the page would be offered (within reason) dont want ads splattered everywhere.
So if anyone knows of anyone with some spare time and skill in web design that would be up for designing and running a high traffic site with
a forum and gallery please drop me a line at info@wholelottametal.com
I know this is a long shot but i need to get the ball rolling so i can wedge some money out of the promoters to pay for the site.
cheers
Matt

'small amount of money', how small is small? How much work would we be talking about? If you want the whole thing done, includeing scripting, layot, and grphics, my rathe might get up to 500 - 1000 bucks, it just depends on how long that takes me. That rather would probably be from 8 - 12 dollers an hour, so its a fare rate, not a rip off when you look at it. Also, if you want to make this thing good for high traffic, just trim down the graphics and use css to save on bandwidth. I know this is a job offer, but still putting an email address on the forum like this is bad etiquitte. We do not want to email you, if you want some help or want something done people want you to talk to them where they are. Thats just a tip for the future. Down at the bottom there is an email notification of replies box, if you want to know when we reply why not just use that?

Welcome to the forums. Peo forgot his manners. ;)
What pops into my mind, if you don't get any bites here, is to contact a computer school in your area (or a "regular" school with a computer degree program) & make the same offer. There are always people there with the skills to do what you want, & many of them are hungry for the money & experience.

but many of us 'helpers' here do it freelance professionally and we are going to charge a normal rate :( My post above was not intended to come off rude... I am sorry if how I worded it sounded that way.

No problem, Peo. I was just poking a little fun. If I didn't think you'd be able to take it or understand, I wouldn't have done it. No harm intended.
And probably he understands, too. But sometimes when you are first posting to something like this, it's hard to tell how somebody means what they say when they respond. Remember that big discussion about spelling and grammar? People were getting their noses out of joint for no reason. I just wanted to ensure that he knows you're coming from the right place, I guess.

I do mean to hurt peoples feeling in the ms threads. I put on my battle armor lol. Those threads get so heated. I hope another one comes up for a good long while... I just feel like no one is defending ms and I like ms :p.
About grammar and spelling... leave me alone, I know I am a bad speller :(. I know the one you are talking about, when that one guy was cussing at vladdy, and i gave pyro the heads up and he started insulting pyro me and everyone etc. That was kinda fun lol.
I got a doller saying that this guy never checks this thread because he asked us to email him lol. He shoulda put the notification on.

The thread you're talking about is another one. I didn't see that until I saw a post of yours, in the Coffe Lounge, I think, complaining about the guy. He definitely had a chip on his shoulder. I was talking about another one. Same difference, maybe.
I wasn't picking on you about yer spellin. Although, now that you mention it...:D I was only pointing out that the way we type (punctuation especially) affects how people perceive what we are saying.
I'm not taking that bet.;)

Did anybody actually go to the site and look at it? I get what looks like a image, but it guess it's supposed to be a Flash file. It's not exactly standards friendly either. Looks more like a fixer upper than a "spare time" kind of job.

Yeah. Looks like the content is all done in flash inside a frame. Works OK for me, but there might be an easier way to accomplish the same thing. Also, it looks like our original poster is a member of the band. Could be why we haven't heard back from him. Maybe he's too busy touring.

So now that I waited for the whole thing to load, I can now surf the site. *sigh* So so many issues. And yes, Blizzard would lick it's chops at seeing the image being used.
