Complete novice needs pointer.... (how to create a database??)

I am using a Dreamweaver tutorial to make a search page on my website, which needs to access a database using SQL statements. It asks me to type in the url for the database. One thing...how do I create a database? Do I simply enter all the info I have in a Microsoft Excel document and save it in a special format? or.....what?

please please help!

Microsoft Access ould be a better choice for web database connectivity. But, yes, you would just make a simple database and then upload it.

Theres 100's of different database options including MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, Informix, etc.
