Hey Guys.

Having a problem here...have you run across it before?

I have a page where I have created a table that I want the user to be able to drag anywhere on the page. I have put all the scripting in place and it is working like I want it to. However I have noticed that when I have a dropdown list or listbox on the page, my table, though it is higher then the dropdown list, appears under the list control (or the list control appears on top).

This applies to when I'm using not only tables, but images, iframes, etc..any object that I give the users ability to move on the page..or that I put exact positioning over.

Has anyone come across this? I've tried to set the z-index to a higher number then the listbox, the listbox still freakin' shows through!

Any solutions?

Very well known bug with IE.
For the list box see: http://forums.webdeveloper.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3467

So does Mozilla on windows (the objects are called widgets btw), but they still manage to code their browser so it doesn't break z-index + a bucnh of other CSS rules.

A bug IS a bug even if some marketing department tries to slip it by as a "feature".

Dave

It's not a hypothesis, it's facts. Mozilla uses OS native widgets when possbile. Just becuse MS programers f**k up that doesn't mean that everybody else have to do too.

Plently of links to visit from here if you want to learn something:

You can get around it by making your own combo box. Theres stinks anyway, 1 visible column and no images. What a waste of 1s and 0s

or
dump the table into an Iframe
