Well, I'm not in the mood for scanning a blog right now, but I must say about your header:  Wow.
Hi -
I'm not sure if you were looking for a response in regards to the design, the blog's contents, or specifically the CSS tutorials, so...here's the first & third:
The design's very nice - love that pumpkin! Only thing you might want to tweak is that your blogs div doesn't have enough padding on the right, so sometimes text is running up against - or off of the right edge. (Viewed: Mozilla)
The tutorials are okay: have read similar ones, so sort of skipped a lot, but they're good for those who are just starting out. (Perhaps a bit darker or bolder code text if anyone over 40 stops by...)
nice job,
El

"A message from us to you non-standard people
Sorry to all you non-standard people out their, but you suck. No one likes you. You have no friends. Now get over it, and lets move on."
Um, yeah, that's going to really help your cause.
"My god! You people are crazy! You need reasons to use standards?. Well, fine, but only if you promise to acually use standards after I go through this extreamly long list!"
And the so called list is basically three small sized paragraphs.
"Guys, come on. Who would want to use <FONT> tags and <B> tags when all you have to do is:"
You then post four lines of CSS. Somehow using two quick tags seems a lot better than four lines of code. If you are going to show code that looks to be a longer way of doing it, you need to show why it's better in the long run.
Quite honestly, the standards article didn't bring anything to the table. In fact, I think it took away from it more than anything else. If that was the first article I was linked to on your site, and technically it was, I would have written you off within the first paragraph. If I had made it threw the rest of it, I would have considered you a very misguided web designer(I use the term web designer loosely here) who probably was rather young and very inexperienced. An article like that would get openly ripped on from actual credible web designers and rightly so. For now I would stick with showing people toturials on how to do standard compliant design and try to keep the opinions on the low side until you are better prepared for it.
I went to the page you linked to. I clicked on the link about the article I just responded on and I saw some text and then a link to read about it "here." There is the word "More..." just below and it is styled to stand out. I figured it was a link. It's not. Huh? More what? This happens on more than one page. Actually it's just about all of the pages I went to. That's extemely misleading.
The header image is nice looking, but the orange doesn't really support it either.
Your site links should be the first set of links in your menu.
EDIT: Where is the title of your site on your page? It should be in the header area easy for all to see.

You misspelled extremely in the Web Standards article, down at the bottom.
And, even though I am twisted, and I like to follow standards, some people may not appreciate that comment about "us" (I'm not sure who "us" is...) having twisted minds.

the header is not displayed, but when you print it out it will -- still working on that
I was feeling weird the day I wrote the web standards article -- I'm going to redo it
And plus, I was going to add a lot more on after that
Other than that, what do you think of my posts -- especially the tutorials

How many people are going to print something from your site? I'm guessing the number would be really low.
Adding to the article isn't going to help. Nuking it and starting over will. :)

It's not just at 800*600; I'm using Firebird, 1024*768, and I get the same bug.

i still find the orange bg hideous... changing it to white would be a good call i think.
Back to original topic: I think it might be a good idea to make longer entries, getting into things, maybe when you have only a short comment to make, talk about your life, something you're working on, or find something to legnthen the entry...

Well its a nice, full site. Here's what i think about the design.
1. Make your horizontal navigation bar taller. It looks awfully cramped up there.
2. Make the red, subtly lighter, it lights up the page distracting the user from the content, whilst giving me a headache.
3. Put a title on your header, at least make us know where we are at.
4. Move the"login info" down below the categories. It looks unordered at the moment.
5. There is just the word "Kosher" in between two lines of the footer, lose it and just have 2 lines.
6. ORANGE NO NO! try and vary with different backgorunds... please.
7. Make your headings for your articles taller and bigger, they look partually significat at the moment, yet unimportant.
8. Stick to one or two fonts. I like the Arial/Verdana, the Georgia or whatever it is doesn't really suit.
9. The whole layout looks awfully cramped. Use margins and paddings to make it roomy and comfortable.
10. The side (left) doesn't look very comfy, try maybe a right (third) column?
11. More padding on the general right main column, it is to close to teh "£dge" in my opinion...
12. As for style, maybe a center background effect to make the content stand out in a 3d kind of way, forget the flatness minimalism, people like smoothness, make it different!
That's from looking at the frontpage. No way was this a selfesteem wrecking post, i honestly thing if you change a bit of stuff, you can have a really decent blog, regualry updated and very sexy.
EDIT: oh and ps: we all are starting to learn about webstandards, this doesn't mean we are mastered enough to teach. We can style with standards but until we have decent experience and beautiful websites based on compliancy and accessibility, try not to preach the message to hard. Lets not pretend we are better than 10 year experienced developers/designers who still use tables. Keep on learning til' you can learn no more! Then, spread the bread..
Hope that helps.
Best Wishes,
David
