Hi -
This is the 2nd design re-haul for my class site:

http://elsite.us [a room 4 art]

For students, ages 6-14 or so, their parents, other art teachers, etc. I got tired of the 'muddy' colors - plus no new art works from the kids for awhile, so...

Let me know general opinions & of any browser nasties.

Thanks for the time,
El

i found a browser nastie
look at printscreen http://fderango.netfirms.com/moreyinglessyang/elsite.us/1.htm the reason i put it on a site, is because it takes to much time to upload lol
but its a layout trouble at 800*600 is ur site designed for 800*600?
also i dnt like the big border thing and the first letter how its bigger with a border around -looks like one of those css tutorials on w3schools which is not bad just good to see it in action

Hello, LJK

I think the distribution of photos and text it's really good and the pictures are great. The text is readable and it looks clean.

But I believe it looks really "gray" and that it would work better with other colors, and that those borders and buttons look old.

Good luck :)

Hi -
Thanks for taking time / checking it out.

dera - I did know about the header overlap, but thought since it was still legible & kind of cool-looking...
bless me, for I do not design for 800*600!

Added a bit more color, yosi - but still like the cool colors behind, so - and toned-down the 'buttonized' look a little.

Will keep your ideas in mind for the next redesign,

El.

I mostly like it. The 'room for arts' logo is pixelated...could that be smoothed out (anti-alias it?). I agree the buttons look a bit dated with the fat borders but otherwise I like the colour scheme and the images are great (esp. the beast mask!!)

One last thought: does the distance between the lines need to be quite to big?

Nice clean site..

Btw shouldn't you be using a different font for "a room for art" ?

I don't like the background colors much, they make me think of overcast days: not my favorite thing. The design is a bit bland and simple... more detail, color, and maybe some texture would help a lot. I think that you shouldn't have the page as fluid width, either... if you made it fixed, put in some more details, rethought the colors, and got a different layout going it might look a lot better. Right now it's just so bland and stretched... it's kind of "blah".

NOTE: I'm only stating the bad... I'll give you the good if you ask, tho. ;)

Hi -
Omega: sure, who doesn't like hearing something good once in awhile?!? ;-)

I've brightened it up a bit, but I'm still not sure what you mean by too 'stretchy'.
As a beginner, I'm only testing on IE and Mozilla and am attempting 'fluid' design that will work on lg.-sm. screens; but I don't *really* know what I'm doing!

How can I accomodate screen size differences and have a more 'fixed' layout?

Thanks again,
El

I do not like the big "Welcome" as for the header/banner, i thought it was an adert. how about maybe a consistent background images on the header.

I don't like the first letter "S"it reminds me of the old table borders and its horrible. The line heihgt is quite high but that doesn't really bother me.

i agree about the whole stretched thing. apart from that, its good, well done!

Best Wishes,
David
