Hi

I'm needing help and advice to get my dating website listed on Google. I bought the dating website on Ebay, and have found that the previous owner had bought the domain name from a domain clearing company. Apparently the the domain had expired and it now has been re-activated for my website, by the person that I bought the website on Ebay, from. I've heard from a colleague that it will be very hard to now get the website listed on google because it had previously lapsed before. Need feedback if this is true? And if so, how can I get it back up listed on google? I'm listed on all of the other major search engines, but can't get the website on google. Would really appreciate any feedback or support with this situation

It's not going to be easy however being from what you have written google may not be the total answer for you.

Your going to want to look at getting local sites to link to your site... What are your plans for Promotion?

Are you willing to pay google there fee to index the site?

I would be interested in seeing the site and what you accually got on Ebay. Please feel free to contact me and I'll see what I can do to get you going.

Thanks for your reply Pete. The URL for my dating website is at http://www.ezmatchfinder.com I'm in the process of making some design changes to it. I have had a number of google ranking 6 websites linking to it. After 2 months, I've still not been listed on google. With other websites, that I link with, that have a high google ranking, I normally get the new websites listed on google within a couple of days. Definately not happening for EZmatchfinder.com Guess I'll have to consider paying google to index the website. Never had to do that before. Still think the problem is because of the domain name, situation.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts Thanks for your great assistance with this matter

Well your keywords are much to long... Keep it to 25 words or less.

I didnt go though them all that much so far but I would put money on the fact you have words repeated which will reject your site from being indexed.

A note about your design... I think that HUGE block of text is unreadable. As in I have no interest in reading a huge block of text you should consider bullets and other highlights. Vs. that ugly mess you would call an introduction.

I do not believe that Google charges for having your site indexed. They charge for ads but not for the search results (organic listings).

To get into Google's category-based diretory, you need to be in dmoz.org -- which is a volunteer catalog. To get in, you need to submit your site to DMOZ.

Yahoo has a paid listing service that is generally beileved to be wildly over-priced -- and you do not have to pay in order to get into Yahoo's web search results. The only thing they give you for the fee is a guarantee that they will include all of the pages you pay for.

While you may have lost some traffic because the domain lapsed, it is not fatal. First, make sure you submit to Google (nose around Google and you'll find the listing submission form).

The thing that is considered most important for Google listings is to be linked from other sites -- not only will Google be more likely to hit your site if it finds the links elsewhere, it also ranks all sites according to the number of links that are out there to that site. Install the Google Toolbar and turn on the Page Rank button; it will give you a valuable education on what Google considers to be a valuable site.

Hi Axelscot45

My first impression when visiting your site was you need to turn off Flash because search engines can't read what is in it (which I assume was your site name, etc.) and too many people (like myself) find Flash extremely annoying and turn it off.

Also you have too much data on the home page and it needs to be broken up like someone else said.

Also move the chart of most viewed pages to another page and just provide a link to it.

Also anything that is in images search engines can't read so check your page with images turned off and you will see what search engines see.

Also anytime you have more than one column on the page the search engine will pick up what's in left column first, i.e., your menu. To force it to pick up the main column of introductory text, make the first column only 1 pixel high and make 2nd column with a rowspan="2" then put your menu in column 1 row 2.

You can check this by doing a site check in google:
site:www.yourdomain.com
if your menu shows up first then follow the instructions above.

However as someone else also stated, getting backlinks is the fastest way to get a good rank in Google. The best optimized site in the world still won't rank well without them.
