I have recently bought a sony laptop with 512 MB ram (physical memory) I have already noticed that the machine is slowing down. I have looked into accessories/system and have noticed the following
Total Physical Memory = 512MB.. Total Available Physical Memory 188MB.Why is the available memory so low and will this be the reason why my machine is slowing down?

Well it could be a number of things, just because you have some free ram does not mean your machine is going to book. What kind of processor does it have? If you know the following: Clock speed, maker, core, l1/l2/l3 cache, and front side bus please post it.
