zip code locator

is there a code or function out there that finds a specific zip code and then tells the person where the closest thing is to them... can of like what car manufactures do so you can locate a dealer closest to you...

Some one might have doen it in JavaScript as well,but it is prety custom job and the best approach could probably be having some kind of database/resource to get the data from.
My guess is it will be tough to get one ready made.

yeah i know it would be hard... thats why i didnt know if there is a place where you can purchase one already made or not... any ways i was just curious cause i will need on in the future real soon...
