Yup. I just installed it today. Was very nice..didn't have to load most of my drivers either.
The only thing I had to install was my scanner and digital tablet...though the volume for the sound in Windows Media is a bit faint..have to turn my speakers way up..tried to install my soundcard drivers but it wouldn't support Win XP.
Anywhoo..it works real nice too. Glad I took the plunge!
Also I am using a new browser called Deepnet Explorer..works like a charm too....tabbed pages and such..east to install...also put in Photoshop CS...Whee! :D
Now I am up to speed

I just set up Win XP on my sis's laptop (damn her and her shiny new computer!) and I must say, I'm impressed. Haven't seen such an upgrade in windows in quite a while. Reminds me of the move from 3.1 (is that it? 3 point something, methinks) to Windows 95 (yes, I'm old enough to remember it). Besides being shiny and colorful, it's so much FASTER. Well, once you get rid of the crap, anyway. And its shiny! And the built in features for dealing with digital pictures are a GOD SEND. Automatically crops/resizes places images for printing and all. Oh, and did I say it looks good?
Yes, I know, I'm easily amused by shiny, colorful things. :p

I remember when I was in disbelief that a disk could have a whole Gigabyte. Yeah, my sis's laptop has a 60 Gb hard drive. Of course, I remeber 16 bit color being insane as well... my how computers have grown up before our very eyes! I feel old.
BTW, 1000024 Posts? Wow, I'm away from the boards one day, and you just go on a spamming spree. :p

LOL. Ya, until about 4 years ago, our family computer was a 3.1, and it had MS Word 6.0 installed on it. It normally took about 5 minutes to start the program. Then we got a new computer with Windows ME(which is almost as suckular as 3.1) and it opened in a couple seconds. I'm like, "Holy ****!" :D

I remeber when I used to start AOL (which was like, version 3.0 or something) it would take at LEASTE 5 minutes if you were LUCKY. And then it would start to sign on... yeesh. Then 95 was like WTF?! And in 98 I was thinking I was cool. And then with ME I was cursing out the computer constantly. Then I reinstalled ME, made it semi-cool, thought I was cool, and then I saw XP and was like "Damn, it happened again!". Windows ME was like Microsoft decided, "Hey, let's take windows 98, add make it a bit more unstable, and give it a new name for the millenium!"
And I want a million people doing what I tell them to do! No fair! :p

you think windows xp is fast, try w2k3, they take out a lot of the 'junk' (the crap they had to put in for a home os, like some of the wizards and compadibility bs that they had to put into xp, and streamlined it more) and it runs pretty insanely fast. Its great for gameing.
Windows me and before were all fat32, hence they were a bit unsable, if one app freezes the whole system locks up. NT, 2000, xp, and w2k3 are all NTFS. One program locks up, no biggie, life goes on, the program ends. Its a major boost in stability. Windows can't help it if some 3rd party software bites the dust or has some nasty error, but now it does not have to suffer because of it. When longhorn comes out everything will be on WINFS, which will be the next big improvement.

At any rate..some of us actually like the new features and all that compatibility bs ..I found it quite helpful..it saved me a load of time from having to install all my drivers.
Though I will have to upgrade my sound card..the drivers for it won't work on XP.
I admit that when I first seen XP I didn't like it but as time went by I realized that many new proframs and components do not support Win 98..besides..I just received Photoshop CS and it won't function on 98...anywhoo...I am pleased with XP.
My first encounter with a computer was in the fifth grade when computers got their "programs from punch cards or cards where you had to fill in those dots...Heh..amazing on how things evolve..wonder what's next?

My first computer class... wow. They had the green and white screens... There was this little turtle and you were supposed to type in commands to make it move and hence draw. Some people were cool and would make something like a pair of glasses! Oooh! Then my school bought useful computers.
And Peo, you always use the acronyms that I don't understand. fat32, NTFS, WINFS ... what these mean, I have no clue. I'll just take it from you that it they are progressively better.

Lol, no one knows that the acronyms mean so it would be harder to give you the full word. Hey when I give you an acronym you do not know, check out www.webopedia.com :p
ntfs, fat32, and winfs are 3 different file systems. fat32 was me- , ntfs is 2000 - w2k3, and winfs will be longhorn+ etc.
http://webopedia.com/TERM/F/FAT32.html
http://webopedia.com/TERM/N/NTFS.html
winfs does not have a definition, its still experimental and all, but its nice, the long horn betas I have seen have been dead sexy.

Peo, man, you scare me sometimes... just repeat over and over to yourself the following: "Human women are sexy. Computers are not. Computers are machines with which I cannot interface. Human women are sexy. Computers are not. ..."

Yes its fun to just do a search for all jpgs on the machine, it will show you junk from the browser cache of every user. If you want to find porn, thats the way to go.
