getting list of files

Hi all,
I am trying to get a list of files from my hard disk and provide the client with a downloadable link for each file. The list of files is dynamic in the dir. Will i be able to get the list using javascript? If not if I use Java how do I embed the java code in my asp or html code.

Also is there a way to get the files based on the timestamp?

Any help is appreciated!
