Hello All,

I'm just getting into building websites for myself and hopefully as a career. I've seen sites with templates of Flash websites. My first question is can you completely build a webpage in flash? By doing so how do send to a certain part of the page information, what I mean by this is that I'm familiar with frames and how you can have something appear in the main frame, left frame etc. But when you build a Flash page are there frames? Second question is that again I've seen these that people sell where all this action occurs on the page than the page is finally loaded and there are cool buttons etc, are these pages just put together in Flash or is there code behind them or what? Any help would be great and I hope my questions are to stupid to be answered.

hi,
can you completely build a webpage in flash?
Yes you can but it is not recommended.

when you build a Flash page are there frames?
Yes, but not in the same context as the one used in web pages.
Flash is an animation package and works with frames and layers of images. Each frame or layer can have a different image. The whole conecpt of flash is the same as if you were to create animation using paper and pen.

Second question is that again I've seen these that people sell where all this action occurs on the page than the page is finally loaded and there are cool buttons etc, are these pages just put together in Flash or is there code behind them or what?
This would depend on a few things. You can create 4 image roleover buttons using various tools. With flash you can create far more complex animation on your buttons, beyond 4 static images.

Hope this helps

One good reason why you shouldn't build entire sites out
of flash....

You completely hack out most possibilities for search engines
to list your site!... Flash doesn't have meta tags & stuff that
search engines look for...

Also, flash combines all pages into one file, when search
engines look for your content they only find one file...
(something down those lines...)

My flash designer that I hire out to comes to me for building
pages within the site that his customers can send to the search engines, these pages are usually complied of HTML.
