hi. i am having one hell of a time desining my sight. im trying to get a universal template but its just not easy for me.

my goal.
fit a 800x600 moniter with out re-sizing.

the problem.
im trying to make a semi automated news sight where people can post news. i found a very good php app for this but the problem is that i cant seem to find a good solution of incorpating the news output file into the main sight. i would love to do a form type setup but cant seem to get it to work worth a damn. every time you click on a news link it links to the out-put file directly ignoreing the main page. im at a loss here i know why it dose this but i dont know how to solve it.

i have tryed frames. they look good and work well but when vewed on a higher resolution they distort and re-size to fit making the sight look like crap.

Tables are not gonna do this for you. As Peo, one of out mods, commonly says, tables are made to stretch with content and are not meant for layouts. Frames are more inaccessable than tables; I would stay off that road. For what you are wanting to do you will need some server-side scripting, which will work hand-in-hand with the forms that you will be using and you will need to know the basics of SQL. My suggestions:

1. Forget about tables for layout.

2. Learn CSS; the link is in my signature.

3. Head to the .NET or PHP forums here; they'll help you with what you need server side; they'll even help with the SQL. :)

No; not purely with HTML or CSS. That you will need JavaScript for.

HTML is for markup and CSS is for presentation. JavaScript is a scripting language; it's meant to add some interaction between the page and the client. Beware, too much of it is a bad thing.

Actually, I'm dyslexic with advanced Adult ADD. I've been doing the computer thing for nearly 14 years. I've only been doing web development for the 1 year. lol
