from the w3-consortium:

Authors may use the LINK element to provide a variety of information to search engines, including:

* Links to alternate versions of a document, written in another human language.
*...

Someone here with experience about websites with several languages while using the link element for alternate(language) versions?
I mean is this a good way for better a indexing in search engines like google?

It couldn't hurt.
It would help allow the site to be found under search terms in both languages.

Hallo,

Thanks for your answer.

I understand...
normally i use in multiple language sites structures like this: page.php?lang=en etc.

This works well but sometimes it looks to me that secondary languages are lower ranked. Would the link element with alternative language helps here?

you could try to make a Googlebomb (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=google+bomb) to get to the top of the list when someone searchs on google.

Maybe its better to read my question first... I think that google can handle Googlebombs in the future. If you like to be at the top of the list than create a valid website.
