Custom error page descriptions

I'm making my own custom pages coz my web hosts are a bit poor and unhelpful. I've been looking for a site with some helpful descriptions of the 500 error but can't find any. Anyone know a good site?

I did a quick Google search (http://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+the+500+error&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8), and this result (http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E500.html) looked promising.
