Top Web Development Companies Worldwide

Hello!

Funny thing is, when I tried to find out who the TOP web development companies in the world are... I had some real trouble finding this out. Can anyone tell me who the top handful are? Does anyone even know?

Good question but i dont know what the anwser is but it could depend on alot of personal attributes such if you like the certain types of designs they produce, if they use valid accessible code.

But i would be interested in finding out.

First of all, define "top company." Usually when that question is asked it is answered in what company makes the most money, not how good their stuff is. To compare compaines based on code is opening a huge can of worms.

Ok, I guess I mean the companies with either the top profits, or with the biggest name clients.

Either works for me. ;)

Funny thing is... I've asked this question in many places... and no one seems to know. Shouldn't we all know who the "guys to beat" are?

The guys to beat are whatever companies that are in the same area that you are in. :D Of course, define "area" in the age of the internet. ;)

*sigh* see.. this thread just proves my point! Do any of us even know who the top web development companies are? No!

There must be lists of companies sorted by yearly profit and organized into different industries... I have been able to find this for my own country (Canada) but I want the worldwide list....

To compare compaines based on code is opening a huge can of worms.

How would it open a huge cans of worms theres only one way code should be developed - valid, semantic and accessible imho.

yeah but nowadays quite a few web development and design companies are starting to design with web standards using semantic (i hate that word), valid and accessible markup. how do you choose between them. and what about the sites that partially use that markup but are very pretty and still partially acessible and have a higher stream of income.

who can judge?

Probably not, since how you define the "top web development companies" is subjective. Everyone has a different opinion. However, I'm sure you could find some statistics about who makes the most money or somethin'... though, where you'd find these, I don't know.

The web development market is very competative with tons of firms. This means their is easy entry to the feild and their is less product differentiation. It is hard for firms to be the 'top'(talking about revenue not quality here) because any other firm and do the same types of things as them. All a smaller firm has to do to steal grab cash from one of the 'top' firms is offer the same services at a lower price, I would assume the big firm would have a higher price because they would try to realy on people not shopping around, and they have a bigger pay role.
