Hey peeps...

I hear everyone talking about "Photoshop" this and that..

Just wondering if anyone out there uses illustrator 10.0? I've
found myself using illustrator 10 times more

Maybe it's just me... i don't know...

I don't use Illustrator, but I know a person who uses it alot. She has Photoshop and Illustrator and uses them for an art business.

I see a lot about Photoshop, too - never tried it and never heard of Illustrator! I feel really "out of the loop" - I'm using PSP7.

Like photoshop... it's functions are the same but photoshop utilizes better features when pictures are concerned!

I re-model all my pictures in photoshop (nessessary) then I export into illutstrator.

Illustrator is more adapt & packed with features that are much better for graphics. The version I use, has many features for building web based templates for normal HTML
& flash!

Now that's not the real biggy... The more advanced features include "data driven graphics" ... Illustrators unique add ons allow me to add java scripting & all sorts of other stuff right in Illustrator before I export them.

Soon to be used by all graphic artists are (SVG) Scalable Vector Graphics. Illustrator really has raised the "BAR" on these types of graphics that allow smaller file size, resolution independence, embedded fonts, 24-bit color, CCS support & Java Script element add-ons...

Hope that gives you an idea!

cheers

I don't :(

I just got fed up with their horribly broken PNG support, the documentation that outright lies to cover up bugs in the software and the techsupport that never bothers with replying.

Last version of I will ever get is my v6.

Nowdays I use GIMP which is pretty much identical in features, works with PNG images and is FREEWARE.
GIMP however is missing CMYK capabilities, but if you make graphics for the web (not for professional printing) that is not something you don't need anyway.

There is a plugin that works in IE I think, but I'm sure we are going to see native implementations poping up over the next few years in all browsers.
I'm guessing about 3-4 years before we will see a 90%+ userbase with SVG capable browsers. If that is soon or not I assume is for everybody else to decide :)
