Has anybody had any experience posting a project on a freelance bidding website. I need a website developed. I have heard from several people that SureLance.com provides a good service for this. Any responses will be helpful:)

I have not dealt with that site myself.
However I would say to try someone local first! Your control and communication will be higher. Chances are your going to get a better product.
Also when evaluating a designer be sure you like how his site looks first. Because chances are if images are missing or it takes forever to load... Chances are you can look forward to the same crappy work on your site.
When looking at someone make sure you know what you need and what you time table is... The more informed you are the more time and money you'll save.
Remember:
Good things are not cheap and cheap things are not always good.

Also, I think there are a few freelancers lurking on this forum (yours truly including), who can quote you a job.

Guys...
I'm sure you could get a couple hundred people here raising there hand.
However if you took the time to read my post wouldn't you agree with it? Just a thought, or I would have offered.

Pete,
I read your first post. While there is certainly merit in suggesting local company, IMHO the benifits of doing so are overrated.
The quality of communication will depend on the person you are working with much more than on his/her proximity. I never had a problem communicating with clients over e-mail and phone. One of the latest jobs (https://gh.cartmedia.com/SSL34781/rsrvtst/reservations.html) I did, was for a car rental company in Cyprus (yeah that's an island somewhere in Mediterrenian, I think). Atlantic ocean did not stand in a way of customer's satisfaction.
Not everybody can find quality web design firms localy.

I agree if there isn't someone locally, you have no other choice.
However buying products and services locally first is as important as buying products made in the USA.
