Help!!! Newbie Wanting to understand Cascading Menus

Hello,
I am semi-new to Javascripting, and am looking for someone who can maybe help me out a little. I am wanting to create a horizontal cascading menu for a website. I have looed all over the web, and have found some great examples, however when I go to look at the source for them I get lost really quick. So basically what I am asking of anyone who reads this, is if you have the knowledge to maybe take me step by step through how one of these scripts work in a cascading menu or if you know where there is a detailed tutorial somewhere on the web, please message me back.

I really do appreciate any and all help that anyone can give me with this.
