I'd like to add a background music track (Java Jive by Manhattan Transfer) to one of my sites (http://mygano.biz), as it would be a good fit for the theme of the home page and a good intro for the site.

My HTML editor is FP 2002 and I can use J-Bots or AnimatorPro to add sound. Is there a way I can add Java Jive? I've tried a few things,
however, whenever I attempt to access the file, its inaccessible.

I don't want to use the usual MIDI files as they sound like canned music!

Any suggestions?

Thx!

Zack

moved to html.

that would be a huge investment in bandwidth, which would make the page load much more slowly, hence turning off many visitors.

Ummm..., there's also the question of copyright. Do you have permission from the copyright holder to play the music, or a contract whereby you will pay them royalties?

many people including myself find any type of background sound/music on webpages is highly annoying and unnecessary. if you do decide to have music on your site, your best bet is to use macromedia flash. that way you get good compression on the audio AND more importantly play/pause buttons and volume control. i can't stand it when there's some ridiculously loud song playing on a webpage with no way to stop it or turn it down (other than lowering the computer's volume or just leaving the page altogether).

*hits f12 and turns off sound on webpages*

I don't mind sound on pages as long as it's quiet. What bugs me is that most sites play the sounds really loud and have no controls

I agree with you about having to deal with annoying sounds and particularly sounds that are TOO LOUD. I wouldn't have sound on
my site unless it could be controlled by my visitor. Ordinarilly,
I wouldn't have wanted sound, however, in this case, it would be
appropriate and subtle. Audio, if used properly, can be an asset,
rather than a deterent, but I prsonally don't like audio on all pages. I just want this one audio track on my home page playing
subtly in the background along with an accessible control easily
viewable by my visitor, and I would set the audio to play only once per visit. I personally don't like it when audio is looped and
plays constantly.

I located flash type software (Kibisis) that will allow me to add compressed audio to my site(amongst other things). Can anyone out there recommend similar (flash-type) software??

Thanx!

Having one of yer favourite tunes randomly played from your music folders for a custom built home page that only you will use it cool though. :D

Been meaning to do it for ages now. Just never had time to build a page for myself. :/

the only successful use of background sounds on a web page is www.24-7media.de they have the option to stop sound when instead of overriding exterior sound files being played...
