Pass vaiable from js

Hello,
I have a javascript function which as the user chooses options, a variable is appended to. I want this variable to be available for vbs to read now to pass on in a form submit.
How do I do tjis?

No the var is just created in one function. Apologies for the simplicity of my question. It's my forst venture in javascript.
