I recently bought Dreamweaver MX (academic version) but I'm not authorized to sell it. Can I legally give it away or trade it for something else?
Forgive me if this is a stupid Q but I don't intend to use this software anymore and now I don't know what to do with it.

I do not believe it is legal to give it away, even if you aren't making any money off of it, but you may want to check their TOS.
Also, on another note, keep in mind that you cannot legally make money off of anything you create with the Education version.

I see no reason why you couldn't give it away, but make sure the person who is receiving knows the restrictions on the academic version.
Also, I don't think trading it is a problem; I doubt Macromedia will sic the FBI on you, but I wouldn't go rip someone off (by trading for something that is worth more than what you paid to get DW).
As Dan said, you might be able to find something in the TOS, but if you don't, I'd say it's fine to do either of those things. I mean, you did buy the thing, it's yours...

You can buy it as a present and give it to a friend, thats not illegal. But when it starts getting on many pcs that owner of the software does not own it becomes a problem.

Is it true about the Academic versions?

Most education versions are not allowed for profitable use.
Peo, if you were to buy it for a friend, you wouldnt open the box and install the software on your PC beforehand. If the software is already on your PC, you cannot distribute it.

Regards. Thats the idea. When you are on a p2p network more copies exist. But when you buy it for a friend he now has a copy that he did not buy, but more installs do not exist. Thats sort of what I was trying to say in my last post.

It is my understanding that the OP does not have any use for the software anymore and wants to get rid of it somehow. As long as it is no longer installed on his computer, I see no reason why he couldn't at least give it away.
