1. I'm not a connoisseur of chatrooms, etc. but what does 'lol' mean?
2. How do I put those little smiley's into my posts?
3. We all make typo's but why do so many posts contain illegible text? (so little time and no spellcheckers??)
(non-english speakers excused!)

1) LOL means Laugh Out Loud
2) To put smilies into your post..just select where on the post you want a smilie..and click on the smiley...like this :D
If you want one at the start of your post...like a icon of sorts then click in the little circle thingee next to the one you want..like the one appearing at the top of my reply.
3) As for spelling..some people have poor spelling skills and yet many are simply to complacent and feel they don't have to exercise a better level of grammar...

OK. I tried to add a smiley to a post and none appeared.
Let me try here!
Put cursor after 'here!', and click on a smiley.......
Preview reply.. no smiley???
'No icon' radio button IS selected
Disable Smilies.... (Options) is NOT checked.

Okay...next to the huge white box I am writing in, on the left is a selection of faces..:) see? After I got done typing the word "faces I just clicked on the first face on the very left.
Now..to make a face appear on the top of your post...I selected the first icon at the top of this big white box..it should look like a list....
All I can say is if you are a registered user..check your profile because I have no problems doing this at all.

I think I figured out what your problem may be..when you acces your "control panel" go to "Edit Options" and go all the way to the bottom..there you should see something that asks about using vB code...make sure "Yes" is checked..this feature allows you to use smilies.
And where it says "No Icon" just select an icon that you wish to use...all that means is that you chose not to have an icon..when I replied.."No Icon" was checked but then I selected the grinning dude and VIOLA!

Ahhh!
That did it. Now there's :) :( :o to the left.
THANK YOU!!
I thought 'lol' meant 'lots of love' and it just didn't make sense in the posts!

Way to go nedals! :)
Since the topic of initials on the net came up - does anyone know what "tty" stands for? I have a neice who just started e-mailing from her mother-in-laws computer and she's always putting "TTY" in them and me, who has the internet for her best friend, doesn't have a clue what that means and my stupid pride won't let me ask her! In her mind I'm supposed to know these things!!!
Take a look at this link. http://www.acronymfinder.com/ The items in bold are the usual meanings...

Thanks, pyro - it's either "Talk to You" or something about thank you - don't think it's the thank you in her case! I really appreciate the help - was feeling really stupid!
That's a good reference!
