*throttles the damn writer of that installation manual..*

Windows Professional XP, Apache, PHP 5, Mysql (latest stable)....

I got everything installed as modules and said everythign was working fine, however i have a question, how do you actually call the parser...... for the life of me i could not find any way of getting the damn pages to parse....

If one of you can tell me what i do to have it parse, and how to show it so I can actually fool around on my comp rather than upload the crap :p.

Thanks for the help.... :D

Have you modified the httpd.conf file?

I think we're going to need a bit more info on what is (or isn't) happening before we can help you much...

Um... as i said NOTHING is wrong Apache, MYSQL (manager) installed as a module, and php 5 installed as a module... both report nothing wrong.

WHen I open a php file though in internet explorer it just shows me the source code.. I think im using the wrong program to parse or whatever...

I dont know whats causing it not to parse so how can i give you more info

Edit: See next post. I accidentally double-posted, and I'm not allowed to delete my own posts anymore. (The admins should change that back... )

Did you edit your httpd.conf file to run PHP as a module?

Yes everything was done to specifications for my machine ( under an apache 2)

Are you running PHP as a CLI or a CGI? What code did you add in httpd.conf for PHP?

Before we continue with this.. does MS. Internet Explorer parse local PHP files; do I need to use another program?

If it is installed, and MSIE is a parser when apache is installed, then does the source code output mean there is some sort of problem with the installation...

If you see the code source - in any browser - Apache is assuming the .php extension is of type text/plain.

Then why is it assuming that... I dont understand why if PHP and MYsql both report to be installed correctly and they are shown..

any suggestions...?

You're sure you're passing the file through apache, right? IE. http://127.0.0.1/yourfile.php?

*smacks head*

This was about a week or so ago, and upon having this problem uninstalled it all with GOBACK, so if I put down localhost as the server address and I opened my browser, it would load in the document root I set for apache correct????

(If thats the case then I feel really stupid ><)

Yep, that's correct. ;)

Ewwww I was passing it as C:\

Hehe, when I get home tomorrow I'll be sure to install it ... again.

THanks pyro

I can write php files, but i cant see them through http://localhost/
since i once had IIS installed, and it says its uninstalled or not installed correctly. but its still on port 80, running. and apache wont work through port 8080 or 8000. i just got a good free *nix hoster. 100webspace.com
freeserverhost.com
thefreebizhost.com
and many other vars :)
