Well I have been hearing all this hub-bub lately about who's got the best computer and what computers people dream about. I just wanted to know what the currently best possible computer you could get is. Not that I have the money for it but I just want to know. I know that the best possible computer would obviously be custom so like what is the best equipment you can get?

I don't believe the US government would sanction me getting that computer....

Well that other thread talks about what everybody wants. I'm talking like what is the best thing you can get like in each field. Like hard drive, memory, etc.

extreme edition pfft. dual xeon all the way. As stated in the other thread where we talk about what we want (which you did not read the title of, fantasy computer... what I think is the best and what I want).

The only think missing from there is the fact that I used 512 sticks instead of 1gb sticks. Plus add in a pci sata raid card and 4 more hard drives. That is a hard core machine my friend.

Me owning the perfect computer is reliant on me owning the perfect office block in which to house it., phisicaly there's no real limit, it's just a case of what can be afforded, for istance if I went to whoever make anthalon with a few trillion, I could easily ask them to develop the best proccesor ever.

anthalon  AMD ;). Yes money is the limit. But I think he means the best possible computer with parts on the market today... that way it could be really nice but cost less then a corvette.

yes, but there is NO reason for that as nothing would be able to use it for what it is. You would be wasting the proccesor

Or you could look at it as being ahead of the times. Pretty soon something we think is big today will be the norm tomorrow. Things are advancing very fast. I mean just look at the past few years. Games only used to be MB's but now I'm seeing games that take GB's. And where a few megs of memory used to do now you need at least 512 to run even a simple game. I'm sure in the next few years what we think is overkill today will become too little.

but why spend the money now? just wait the few years when it is actually useful and less expensive and then get it.
