Any thread you like. Take, for example, in the general forum, the one entitled startup errors or summat like that. When I offer advice, it would be nice to know if they got the message, wouldn't it. Some people seem to leave a ridiculously short time between posting and checking for answers - e.g. the 8 minute one I saw yesterday. So it would be nice to know if they need more help.

It would be great if they could say thanks then...

Like I said, generally speaking (probably 95% of the time), they will come back on and say thanks. Don't let the 5% get to you :D

I find that very annoying and ungrateful too, but you kind of get used to it ;)

On this forum I visited many eons ago, the person who started the thread had the ability to 'accept' a reply.

The accepted reply would be highlighted and the thread would be 'solved.' This is a good time saver for people who solve other people's problems and for people who like to read the question and answer without all the junk in the middle of the thread.

Is this kinda what you mean?

Yes - a choice of 'accept' 'thanks' or any other common short word or two to express your appreciation, even if it is computer generated...
