www.sandmini.com
Here is what I have so far. I am having problems thinking up a decent looking layout that would look professional for a business. Any suggestions on what I could do to maybe go a little bit more towards that direction. Anyone got a good example or place to look for a templates that are doable by a nooby? I have seen some nice looking ones but they have flash and tons of other advanced features that I know I wouldnt be able to even think about doing at this point in time.
BTW the links and everything on that page do not work yet. I'm just trying to get the layout looking half ok before i start the other pages.

to fix this add something after the image w/ clear: both. So the following would work
/* this goes in the css */
.clear {
clear: both;
visibility: hidden;
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
height: 1px;
}
<!--this part goes after floated image-->
<hr class="clear">

Nice looking home page. The picture looks a little pixelated. You might want to muck with it a little in your image editor to smooth it out. Also I noticed you're using frames. Frames are a problem for search engines, and they are falling out of use. I use Elizabeth Castro's book "HTML for the World Wide Web with XHTML and CSS." She says, "In fact, the W3C discourages the use of frames. Instead, they recommend embedding contenton a page through fixed positioning and the use of the object element."

Frames are o.k. but I don't see what favour's thier doing for your site. Also proffesional and remote-hosted-forum are not terms that belong together.

Hrmmm is this what you guys are talking about?
<html>
<head>
<title>www.SandMini.com</title>
</head>
<frameset rows="100%,*" border="0">
<frame src="http://s94689575.onlinehome.us/index.htm" frameborder="0">
<frame frameborder="0" noresize>
</frameset>
</html>
I'm not sure where that came from as that is not my index.htm. That is what I get though when I view source in Firefox. When I view the source in IE I get
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html>

Another thing when I try to validate the page I have to put the exact url like http://s94689575.onlinehome.us/index.htm instead of just www.sandmini.com Is it supposed to be like that or do I have something set up wrong with the host/domain name?

Its seems that your domain has just given you a frame with your site in.

Anyone else know what else is going on?
As the tree has previously alluded to, your site is being hosted within a frame. I'd check with your host to see what is happening. It could have something to do with your DNS pointers, if not, I'd get another "frame-free" host.

if you want to keep your "masked" uri/url then you will either have to DNS it or use a Framed host. The host has the domain, and then a frame directing the page to the actual url. the frame is style-less, frameless, and should be undetectable to the naked eye (i.e. without looking at the code!).
David
the DNS pointers for sandmini.com are still parked...

I would have to go with lakers. Background + the black color, just lose it. Blacks about a few months outdated(:p) and its...just...well...like an outdated hippy dude.
Yeah.
Like one of those.

So the background is garbage being black? I kind of like the look of it. What colors would you suggest if black is "outdated"? I thought it looked half ok but I do not do this for a living obviously. This is the first site I have made so any suggestions from the pros are greatly appreciated.
