Hi everyone
A customer has asked me to build a web site that they can update themselves (just a few lines of text on one page). All the options I've looked at require me to build the site using a CMS web site creation program, but (having spent months learning them) I'd much prefer to use GoLive or Dreamweaver.

Does anyone know of a way for me to build the site in the program of my choice and then allow a non-technical user to edit the content using another simple (and preferably free) application?

Thanks
Graeme

You should buy Macromedia Contribute 2.0 - it does the job.

Hi Rob
Thanks for this.

Just to clarify (because I'm a little slow) is it definitely the case that (although you can do so) you don't have to build the site in Contribute (the Macromedia site talks about Contribute 3's new templates).

Also, am I right in thinking the process works as follows: my customer installs Contribute on their machine and is then able to edit the site (from within Contribute) once they've browsed to the site and entered the relevant userid and password?

Cheers again for your help,
Graeme

I'm confident that Contribute is solely for updating/changing/adding/deleting to a site that is already there. I gave it to the people at ab-hotel.com to make changes to their 'special offers' bit and they like it.

It's like a Word document, very easy WYSIWYG.

Yes, Contribute is like Internet Explorer in that you scroll to your site and once you have made your account with the FTP details you can just click 'Edit'. I've got V2.0 but apparently V3.0 is out.

Take care.
