Would you guys consider this question stupid?

Recently, I was asked by a friend who was just starting up his first web page "Why do I need to make this valid anyways?"

I told him making sure it was 100% valid would ensure that it worked as well as possible.

I was just wondering if you guys would have considered that a stupid question.

I don't think it's a stupid question. In fact I remember asking that same question not too long ago. If you don't understand it then it's kinda hard to grasp why it's necessary. I used to think that validating web pages was so stupid just because it took so long if you had bad code. Luckily now I know the purpose and I'm glad it exists. :)

yea, that question was very 'valid' :P someone just starting out will not usually understand the point to to doing so.
