Site development?

Hi there

I am working my way through my site but am wondering if the site looks ok? I am endeavouring to keep it as simple as possible with the minimum of text after all it is just a banner link site.

I am using frames to control the site but will be ditching them soon but keeping the overall design of the site more or less as it now. The frames at present allow me to control the various sections with regard to pulling in the forums and email box etc. I don't want to use portals etc because I find working on them dead boring. Using html and javascript keeps it interesting for me. Infact there is an Xoops portal on my site and the 'Contact Us' email link is a part of it.

The forums are phpbb2 ones that have been modified using a Category hack. They can be made to look like V-bulletin boards with a simple alteration. They are also resizable etc.

Does the look of the site seem ok? Am wondering whether to ditch the 2 choices of Text and Banners and just use one. The reasoning behind the 2 choices is that a 56k modem will load the text very quickly. But then again some people like to look at pictures rather than text.

The site has got a lot of work yet to be done on it and anything could change especially the colour scheme etc. But things of that nature I will attend to after all the banners and links are in place.

Should you visit you only need to open the 'Art & Posters' or 'Business 2 B' sections as they are the only ones that have the text or banner choices inplace at the moment.

I would change the logo image you have. The dual color thing and the text, "Your Internet..." just isn't doing much good. The "How to?" and "Site Development" links need to have a different color. Dark background color and dark text color tends to not work. Your menu could use a good reworking. Adding a Doctype and claening up your code(see sticky for this section) will help too.

people like me, want to get to a site see its point and click etc play or what ever, they dont like waiting at intros for crap, if a website loads slow i just close it all the time. sites like this that have these animated javascripts, slow down the sites loading time and are annoying to wait for an introduction. get a layout working again just get a css layout put ur content in divs, and make it look kool with css ditch the frames for server sides includes.

Ditched all that intro stuff. More bother than it was worth.

Check out my new method of making my site interesting. Taken everything offline bar for the Art section. Will slowly work my way through the site adding the rest and content obviously. But I have found a way to pull in websites into my own. Not only that but managed to disable the website links so that they can only view the site and not interact with it. Even got the scroll bars working bar for Firefox. Think I can get around that when I can get more information on Firefox and divs.

Site is very bare now but if you explore the Art (only one on the menu) you can then click on Posters and see the 'Website Snapshot Viewer' working.
