Hi,
Whats do the UK members think about the Yanks backing out of what they started by asking UK troops to take over in some of the worst places in Iraq?
Do you think the Yanks should have let the Brittish lead the invation?

I live in the U.S....... I don't think the Brits have enough troops to have lead the invasion in the first place... I don't know about the UK troops being asked to post in the most dangerous zones though..

As with my post in the isreal thread, I know far to little about it all to form a truly valid opinion. Something I think is true of the majority of people that can't wait to shove their opinion down your throat. It's just that they probably just don't realise, are far too self opinionated to care that they don't truly understand it all.
I'd bet only a hand-full of people know all the real reasons for Iraq being invaded. I'd bet further, at least one of those people doesn't understand all the reasons.

Hi,
theuedimaster don't know the numbers but numbers don't matter its all down to tactics.
We all know the yanks can't battle the way the British do, its not the case of send in hundreds of thousands of troops and hope for the best. There is no army in Iraq for the yanks to fight. Now the Yanks are planning a Vietnam style assault on Falluja and are looking to UK troops to be redeployed to an area south west of Baghdad.
Again the Scottish Black Watch will be the unit the English government here in the UK will send to the Yanks rescue.
I'm a Scot and I’m proud to be one but I am so fed up of Yanks and English not recognising and not giving credit the Scottish troops in all the wars these 3 countries have been allies

What the journalists not giving credit or the general populace because Wales in also a separate country. Technically I assume it's the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and then there are the regiments like the Ghurkhas that are out there.
Essentially there is a civil war going on between various religious sects let alone the fundamentalists and extremists running riot; if you are not native Iraqi you become a target automatically.
Essentially it's the rule of anarchy installed and not a true war (it is an unfinished aftermath) hence why so many are getting killed by insurgents.
I assume you do know this post will be intercepted by Menwith Hill North Yorkshire, so I won't go into further details.

I think the way we were planning on handleing falluja is good. But we have not really done it. We had the city surrounded and were moving people out. The we ran in and went door to door. Trouble is we did not cover the city completely. Our forces only covered about a third of the city from what I have read. I am of the mentality that we just need to lock the damn city up for a few weeks. You know let people out, but as they come out identify them and do whatever with them, check them for arms etc. The once the whole city is empty, or everyone who is coming out comes out we just lock it up, surround it. Then after that we slowly creep into the town and search all of the property house by house for arms and remaining insurgents until the city is clean. That is how I think it should be handled. This does not have much to do with the original topic of the thread, I am just responding to the 'vietnam' assault on falluja comment.
