Lately I've been wondering whether a billion dollar industry like Internet adult entertainment has any decent webdesign to offer?

Anyone seen a well designed and coded adult website lately?

Just curious. :)

Edit: perhaps this is the wrong categori. Please move this post if it is.

So, what you basically mean is better webdesign has nothing to add to adult websites?

I see a lot of slice'n'dice image maps etc. and a lot of old school and/or semi-good code hiding in those websites. If adult websites can't benefit of better webdesign, why should ordinary business websites?

Philosophically curios...

for one, accessibility. A company needs the site for money and they dont want their site to exclude certain ppl. for the adult sites it doesnt matter.

I do not see the difference.

If a company is on the web to create financial turnover, then I do not see the difference. Only difference perhaps would be that adult entertainment sells itself - but, then again isn't it a very competative business with many websites trying to capture visitors?

yes and a standards compliant design is not what will capture visitors

People here mean to say, that the target audience of these websites will not have browsers that require proper code (Interenet Explorer). However, the companies can still benefit from many advantages of standards compliant/Full CSS websites such as:

-Reduced File Size
-Saved Bandwith
-Easier Updateability
-Upwards Compatability
-Larger Possible Userbase

There are users using browsers other than IE that would still wish to, erm, "do buisness" with these sites. There's no reason to exclude them, I just don't see standards compliancy being high on their or anyone's list. You have to convince them.

basically at these sites, ppl will visit them regardless. People may leave an actual business site if its too slow to go to another business site that's faster. Plus, the people that visit those sites arent going to care so much if the site is slightly off as far as the design goes, they just want the pics/movies or whatever but with an actual business site if its screwed up it could turn the customers away.

I've got a 512/512 adsl line connection and most of those sites take pretty long time to finish downloading with all those pipes'n'whistles.

I'm sure my patience wouldn't suffice with a 56 modem or 128 adsl line. Perhaps some people only visits adult websites for longer period of time and briefly pops in at some other website, perhaps does some Googling once in awhile.

Me think it's the comfort of the wellknown. ;)
